Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Tigers have arrived!

I was watching them on their first evening at Noah's Ark. They seemed amazingly relaxed considering they had just arrived.

Below is a copy of what is posted on the web link where does it mention White Tigers or does this info come from a different source?

A NEW male tiger has arrived at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm to join the two females already at the Wraxall attraction.

The Bengal tiger called Tanvir arrived at 1pm today (Fri) and will be kept in the one-acre tiger territory especially built for the big cats.

The trio will also soon be joined by another addition as one of the females, Tira, is heavily pregnant and due to give birth in the next few weeks.

Tira, Tanvir and Kushkja can be viewed on a tiger webcam linked to the Times website.

Visitors to Noah's Ark can also see the tigers from open air viewing platforms, which are at eye-level with the 15ft-high basking platforms in the tiger territory.

wow, thats great news, hopefully we can see some cubs soon and if were lucky maybe some white ones.

It is great news if you consider the breeding of HYBRID Bengals to be a value when pure species such as Amur need more zoo`s to hold them, and do we realy need any more zoo`s claiming to be Breeding rare Royal White Bengal Tigers because they will if they do!

Well said! And who in their right mind crates and ships a "heavily" pregnant female (hopefully without anaesthsia) and then allows the public to gawp at her without any adjusting period?!

They asked someone I know for advice when they were thinking of getting tigers/lions. His advice: Don't!

|At its annual conference held at Edinburgh Zoo earlier this year , BIAZA held a debate with the motion ' that this house believes that there is no place for white lions or tigers in the modern zoo ' . Although the motion was carried the result was closer than was perhaps expected .

This could partly be due to the fact that a number of BIAZA members do exhibit these cats .

I thought White x White could only produce White, not Orange?

Yep, white & white will only produce white.

Hopefully they will not breed from these after the first female gives birth and in 10-15 years time move into a pure bred species.

This place just keeps getting better and better:rolleyes:next they will be getting Arabian Camels to breed with the Bactarians they already have:p

Do they intend to breed from Tanvir?
From what ive heard they have 3 enclosures once the cubs are born and they want Tanvir to breed they are going to run out of space within the next 2 years when the cubs become mature and need an enclosure of their own?
So if they do breed they are breding hybrid tigers that no-one wants and they wont have room for? Why?
Anything to have Tiger cubs for visitors i guess.

But more zoos are seeking to hold Pure bred's if a zoo has space for a non-breeding hybrid individual or siblings thats great but more and more are trying to hold Amur/Sumtran Tigers instead of Hybrids.
Most zoos have no space left,
Howletts and Port Lympne are filling up steadily aswell as South Lakes,Whipsnade,London,Banham,Welsh Mountain etc.
Anyone know any zoos that would have space and be happy for Hybrid Bengals?

Yorkshire Wildlife Park in a year or two prehaps? Colchester will also have space when Sacha the white bengal dies. Belfast currently have an empty tiger area since there last tiger passed away.

Thanks Stripes,
Ywp i think are specialising in African Animals although if the oppurtunity for Tigers arises do you think they will miss on the oppurtunity?
Sasha must be about 14 ish years old so he has quite some time left. There are other species that could be used as they will still havethe Amur Tigers there.
I do agree now space could be found but perhaps not enough if theey intend to breed the other female and bred them in the future aswell.

I don't think YWP would miss out if they got the opputunity. Tigers are always crowd pleasers and they will make more money for the park. I think Noahs Ark will run into trouble if it breeds anymore of these "bengal type" tigers. They will probably find themselves 5 years from now having to build another tiger house because they can't find homes for them and there indoor space is full to capicity. I can't work out how Tanvir fits into the picture. Why don't they just keep the two females plus the cubs from this pregnant female and leave it at that? Noah would be turning in his grave:rolleyes:
