BBC Wildlife Fund - BBC Wildlife Mag. July

I have just read the BBC Wildlife Funds allocation in the latest BBC Wildlife magazine, and I am so glad to see such an excellent amount was raised to help conservation projects around the globe.

From the Saving Planet Earth Appeal (which you may remember from 2007), £1.6 million was raised and distributed by the the BBC Wildlife Fund.

Along with the usual suspects, (Sea turtles, African Elephants, Indian Tigers, etc.) it was excellent to see some more unusual projects recieving funding, such as; protection of giant Clams in Borneo, reintroduction of Siamese Crocodiles in Cambodia and a community project helping protect Livingstones fruit bats in the Comoro Islands.

My personal favourite is the allocation of £60,000 to help protect Ethiopian Wolves in situ from the threat of rabies.

I am also pleased to see that the 'Landscapes for Bats' project in the UK was granted £66,000. Numerous other UK based projects also gained small grants.

I am so glad to hear of this excellent news. Does anyone have any other comments on this? Or any ideas of projects the money could be better spent on?

That's great news, sadly I stopped subscribing to the magazine this year and I was finding a lot of the articles repetitive and not to my interest. Its a good read but sadly it usually only took me a day or so to read what i wanted to and i felt it wasn't worth all that money, i must say its a little overpriced for what it is

I have had a good browse through WHSmith with no luck, its either too expensive or not to my interest. I will just have to be happy with my small collection of books for now.
