Filling in some gaps

Here's what I can add

Peoria Zoo - Africa! opened June 6th
Memphis Zoo - Teton Trek opens in October
Oregon Zoo - Predators of the Serengeti opens August 29th
Oregon Zoo - Red Ape Reserve opens in September
Cameron Park Zoo - tentatively Sept/Oct

Due to budget constraints and other issues, these exhibits are among many that have been pushed back until next year or later.

LA - Pachyderm Forest (Summer 2010)
Brookfield - Great Bear Wilderness (Memorial Day 2010)
El Paso - Africa (Spring 2010)
OKC - Children's Zoo (2010)
Fort Worth - MOLA (Spring 2010)
Louisville - Glacier Run (2 phases in 2010 and 2011)
Birmingham - Trails of Africa (2011 at earliest)

Not sure about the rest off the top of my head.

Boise Aquarium hasn't broken ground yet, and honestly I haven't heard anything about it in a VERY long time.

Living Planet Aquarium - Journey into South America (opened Feb 09)
Hogle Zoo - Madagascar! (opened June 09)

Nobody really knows, but LA Zoo's China exhibit (former golden monkey exhibit) should be opening by the end of the year or early next year.

Why the delay? There were monkeys in there when I visited last month.

It's only one monkey, and he was originally put there to test the exhibit for the golden monkeys. Once the zoo found out that the golden monkeys weren't coming, they just didn't move him.

The male Red-capped Mangabey that's in that exhibit is actually very aggressive towards other monkeys, so they had to separate him from the females.

Oh ok, very unforunate that the golden monkeys fell through.

Cameron Park's Asian Forest will actually be opening earlier in mid-August according to their website.

Also not on that list:

Phoenix Zoo - "Komodo Island" opens Nov. 11, 2009

Henry Doorly's Madagascar should be added. Not sure on it's opneing date, but it can't be that far off.

Memphis Zoo - Teton Trek has opened for member previews and will open to the public on October 10!

Whats the progress on Oregon Zoo - Red Ape Reserve and Las Angeles Zoo - China?

Other info. Vancouver Aquarium - Marine Mammal exhibits expansion, Wonders of Wildlife - Expansion, Boise Aquarium, Happy Hollow Zoo - Expansion, Texas State Aquarium - Conservation Cove Phase III, Virginia Aquarium - The Restless Planet will probably take a little more than 1-2 years to complete so I will move them to the next thread.

There are some impressive windows right by the pool for underwater viewing, and the enclosure is supposedly almost an acre in size. However, there are 5 bears that rotate throughout the space, and Woodland Park and Minnesota have nothing to worry about in terms of Memphis stealing their crown as the place to see grizzlies in spectacular zoo habitats.
