Closed Zoo Reviews

Hello Sim and all

I've just had a brainwave so bear with me...

Would it be feasible to add a dedicated section to the website (like the gallery, webcam, maps etc) where users can post a review of a zoo rather than post the reviews in exisiting threads or boards.

For example, there could be one San Diego Zoo section with reviews from SnowLeopard, Black Rhino etc

It could then act as a "help" guide (much like ANyhuis' book) to ZooChatters and it would make it easier for people to find reviews than trawling the forums. When I'm visiting a zoo, I will have a quick browse of the gallery so I know what to expect and I feel a review section would have a similar effect.

I'm not sure how it could be integrated, but they could have a rating system (like the photos) so users can quickly access the top-quality reviews.

Users like SnowLeopard could be great contributors to such a feature and his excellent reviews could recieve more exposure using this feature.
 
Funnily enough I have been thinking about this for quite some time - I agree it would be a good idea to try and implement this, I'm just still trying to work out the best way to do it.
 
It sure is a great idea. I like it too and it seems worthy to investigate whether it is feasible for our forum or not.

Come to think of it: how about sending out news alerts if a token word or particular subject that you have marked out as informative (viz Yahoo et al)? Or does this create to much hassle or spamish spam?
 
I like the idea of a review section. Perhaps to keep it organized, each person could only do one review of each zoo?

I don't think you got that Cat-man, Toddy suggested that we would only be able to do one review for each zoo meaning that everyone could do a review of the zoo but they could only submit one.

That is exactly what I meant :) A good idea would also be for people to be able to edit their own reviews. Then we could have a sort of "review database" and them discuss the zoos in the forum.

Maybe a rating system, where a certain number categories could be scored on and at the end it would give you the overall rating. This would then feed into the overall rating of the zoo of everyone that has rated it.

I think its a really good idea, and it would make it less of a hassle to find info on zoos that people plan on traveling to. Hope it goes over well because it would be a great feature!
