Visited again yesterday. We intended to stay for the morning and move on after lunch - eventually left at about 6.30.

In the African plains it was lovely to see the Anakole cattle and Lechwe right over by the viewing area - previously (apart from the first morning they opened) they've stayed well away. Even the 3 or so young Lewchwe came very close. I don't know if it is partly because all the rain had left the ground very wet which they like. There are supposed to be axdaxes coming soon.
There is a relatively new male ostrich who is bullied by the emu but he was not actively chasing him quite so much as two weeks ago. He still didn't dare to go too close to the females.

The baby meerkats (or merrakeets as somone read out to her child) are very popular of course. The second female has proved to not be popular with Anne and Arthur and is probably not going to stay, particularly since the four babies have now been born.

The Red River Hogs look great in their enclosure and there is certainly plenty of snuffling opportunities.

Tink the male ringtail lemur seems to have at least one friend in the females - the small Silver. The two ruffed lemurs were being VERY vocal most of the day.

The hunting dogs were sleeping most of the day and didn't even get up at their usual time but later we could see them being very active - unfortunately from a distance. After 5 part of the park is closed off and there is free entry.

There were loads of sparrows helping themselves to the food in the bird (hens mainly) enclosure - nice to see such a lot since they are relatively uncommon in most places. The seemed to be raising young in the trees next to the hen pen - very convenient food source.

It's always enjoyable to visit and all the staff seem to be really interested and delighted with the animals and always ready to talk if you show an interest.
