Unfortunately, I don't know, but I will try to find out.

The ZSL Annual Reports did not give a full species list until 1977; prior to that the lists only showed animals born or received. By the time the full species list was published in the 1977 report there were no white-tailed gnus in the collection.

Sadly, today, the ZSL doesn’t provide any sort of species list in its Annual Report.....
 
I was a pretty regular visitor to Whipsnadde from as long back as the mid 1950's but sadly cannot remember ever seeing the Black Wildebeest (sorry, White-tailed Gnu) there.

thats a serious blow to their breeding program for them, but hopefully they will learn, and will have more sucsess in the future

I can't see what is to learnt? the calf died what seemed to be a congenital heart defect

Very true, it was of no fault of newquay. Just a small update from newquay's twitter page. The phillipine deer have taken to rolling around in the mud of their enclosure.

on another note the oriental gardens have had a new bridge.
