Berlin Zoo is the second biggest zoological collection in the world after Shedd aquarium in Chicago.
Both Berlin zoos are quite amazing and are a must see for every zoo lover.
Both zoos are registered on ISIS but their animal entries are not up to date, and most of the time missing!

I have to correct this: Berlin zoo once registered its collection on ISIS, but about four years ago this institution left ISIS. The few entries which might still be listed are relicts of this time.

Berlin Tierpark is still member of ISIS, but it only registers its mammal inventory on ISIS.

If you want to know more about the inventory of Berlin zoo and the birds and reptiles of Berlin Tierpark, visit our database ZootierlisteHomepage.
Fill in "Berlin" in the pad "suchen" and you'll get an inventory list of all zoological institutions in Berlin. So far it's only in German (but including scientific names), but there are concrete plans for an English version.

English version now up and running, and a real delight.....if only ISIS was as good as this!!:):)

Cool! I like this site a lot, and now that it's in English it's even better.

Only if North American zoos would do the same.

Mind you, there is definately not a zoo involved with this site, nor is it backed by any zoo. It's completely made, run and the information is filled in by zoo-enthousiasts. Therefor, the information is not completely reliable but considering everything about as good as such a list would get.

It's also a german site, run by german people and you can tell by the information on german zoo's, which is very accurate. The further you get away from germany, the more patchy the information get's (specially England, Italy, Portugal and Spain) but in recent months, that information has gotten quite decent as well (usually at least more complete then ISIS).

So get a few nerds together, copy the website and do the same for the States/Canada/Mexico please? :)

Couldn't it be done as part of this website?

Lots of zoo nerds already in 'one place'. Lots of photos we could use.

??????????????:D

I went on a history trip to Berlin in 2007. The Berlin zoo we didn't visit but when the coach went past it our tour guide said it's "one of the best zoos in the world".

I don't know if anyone on here would agree but I'm intrigued by it. I'm sure it is collection wise but is it in terms of quality of care and exhibits?
