I would love to hear about people's best enclosures.

Firstly post the enclosure YOU think is the best. It can be any zoo, safari park and Aquaruim in the world or one you've made up. :D

Please leave the name of the Zoo, Animal and if available the Date it was made. Then leave your home county underneath. :)

One to start you off !

Personally i couls spend all day in Burgers Tropical house, Holland. Countless birds and Manatees :D

Cleland Wildlife Park, Adelaide South Australia.
Dingo Enclosure. When I was still in SA, every weekend I will be at the dingo enclosure for at least 3-4 hours.... waiting for the light and action :)

The above is a shot of Mary (may be spelt wrongly) the alpha female.

EDIT: Most of the enclosures in Cleland are free ranging anyways, you can go right up and feed a kagaroo or emu.

This is such a hard one Colchester-dude!
So ill give 3 of my favourites :P
Whipsnade Zoo's Lions of the Serengeti comprises the Natural British Surroundings and a close up experiance - Built 2005
Howletts Tiger Enclosure's - I just really like them - Built 1960's+
Howletts/Port Lympne New Monkey outdoor enclosure's - Again comprises the natural parkland with vegitation, climbing frames etc - Built 2007+

All of them give privacy for the animals and all very spacious and natural and none are over the top at all like quite alot of zoo enclosure's nowadays.

Sorry about that i just cant decide!

Anywhere in Apenheul, the Netherlands. I can't think of anything they've done wrong.

did you go in the inside area for the Gorillas?;)

Ah yes, I did early on and it was empty and then I got carried away with enthusiam for everything else so forgot about it. I suppose it did look a bit small, but maybe they spend most of their time 'out in the wild'?

During the winter months when Apenheul is closed, I think they probably spend quite a lot of time in there.. I think there were plans to upgrade it(its one of the earliest buildings) but for some reason it still hasn't happened. Its the only poor aspect of Apenheul.

The reason is simple: at this moment they are not allowed to build a bigger building inside the bounderies of Apenheul, but they will in the future when some old buildings will be teared down.

But on topic: I love Masoala hall in Zurich, spend almost an entire day inside and still wasn't bored.
Pongoland - Leipzig
Wolverines - Gaiapark
etc

I have three that I'm torn between just for how amazing the are for the animals & guests and they are all pretty innovative in their own right. Also all three are pretty new and coincidentally all are from one of the three zoos that comprise Zoos Victoria. :)

First is Melbournes Orang-utan exhibit. It was built a couple of years ago and houses three sumatran orang-utans, a borneon orang-utan & her hybrid daughter and four siamangs between three exhibits. I can honestly say that I've never seen an orang-utan on the ground in this exhibit.

Second is Werribee Open Range Zoo's Hippo Exhibit. There are three exhibits for 5 hippos and all three exhibits have a large naturally filtered pool, a sandy beach and grassy areas for grazing.

Third is Healesville Sanctuary's BHP Billiton Platypusary. It's so unique and cool. It is also the place where the first second generation captive platypus was bred (if that makes sense).
