So what does everyone think of the show ??

So Far two episodes have aired with the first episode focusing on the Rhinos, Lemurs, Lions and Elephnats. And the second with the Bongo, Giraffes, Otters and Reticulated Pythons.

How many episodes in total are going to be aired
 
Fairly typical zoo documentary - too much vet footage - but a pleasant enough distraction while I'm eating my tea!
 
Sadly I can't watch it as I'm not home in time. My video's on the blink too so I can't even record it.

Does anyone know if it gets repeated, preferably at a later time? Have Freeview so if it ends up on one of those obscure digital channels I could watch.
 
I was not happy with yesterday's show. The male Crocodile Monitor from Chessington had a nasty mouth infection, which seems to have been ignored by the staff there.
 
I have taped all except the first one so far....

Why did they bring in a new croc monitor? Was the other male not suitable?
 
No hes un-related to the other pair it`s just that Chessingtons female died so Chester asked to bring him to Chester so that they can swap the males round to try to bred them as their has been no intrest berween them since they arrived in the country,don`t know if you are aware but the pair in R of R A came from Chessington any way.Also have meet the keepers at Chessington they are a good young bunch who do a good job with some un-usual species with little or know support from the management of the park.(I don`t include the zoo management in this)

I think it's preety boring that every episode has to have 4 speies exactly in it

Animal Park for instance dont have a strict number of animals to feature.

Im suprised that they havent mesntioned the Ornagutans and Realm Of The Red Ape.

These TV animal programmes which feature zoos etc usually have a set formula. The London 'Supervets' one(if I have the right programme) each week featured one Dog story, one Horse Story and one Exotic animal story from ZSL/Whipsnade.

Going away from the topic a bit, but I rather hope that when the new developments take place at Chessington, that the Animal Collection will enjoy a higher profile than it does at present. In recent years the 'zoo' has always been a secondary consideration, it seems, to the main amusement park.

I'd really like to see the two as separate operations but maybe that's too much to hope for. Perhaps we should have a Chessington discussion thread?

Sorry, I should not have posted without knowing the facts. The show gave the impression that the monitor had a serious infection which apparently was unknown to the Chester staff.

I apologise to anyone who is connected to Chessington. It was wrong of me to make the assumption that I did about the minitor.

Realm of the Red Ape is on next week.

I'm surprised that some of the rarer species have not been shown. So far, it's been elephants, rhinos, lions, chimps, bongos, flamingos, pythons and lizards. No mention of the only Tuatara, Galapagos Tortoise or Birds of Paradise in the UK.

Plus the giraffes and the otters and kangroos all got minor mentions.

The Antelope (species unknown) and Meerkats are featured next week.

Plus it's only been 4 episodes so far. Plus with the rule of 4 species per programme they can only manage 80 species maximun if my maths is correct. Which is going to be lower because the elephnats and lions etc have been seen in more than one episode.
 
Next episode shows the mating of Birma by Upali, I went behind the scenes at Eles over the summer, and Already know the story, but You can watch it for yourself, and we'll discuss it on monday!
 
Someone mentioned Chester's being the only Galapagos Tortoises in the UK. This is untrue. As far as I know they are the only ones on public exhibit in the UK. There are some in private hands though I'm not sure how many or how widespread.
