Im sure this has already been done but in your experiences of zoo's what exhibits have you walked through and have you ever visited a zoo with free roaming animals...

my experiences are ,

Roaming Free

Lemurs at South Lakes Wild Animal Park (not sure if they still roam )
Mara, Guinea Fowl & Muntjac at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis
Mara at Newquay Zoo

These im guessing are quite common

Walk Through Exhibits

Well not many....

Emu At South Lakes Wild Animal Park
Many species of Wallaby at many Zoo's
Alot of Bird walk through's

Tell Me Your Experiencesv:D

At Zoo de la Palmyre, there were free-roaming ring-tailed lemurs and at another French Zoo, Zoo les Sables D'Olonne, squirrel monkeys were allowed to run free.

But there's umpteen walk-throughs I've been through, so I'll just highlight the ones at my local zoo. Marwell has three: The Australian Bush Walk is divided into two, the first being a large paddock with bennet's wallabies and the second is an aviary with kookaburras and parma wallabies. The other is in Encounter Village and is what was the Rabbit Mound, since converted into a golden lion tamarin walkthrough. As the bush walk animals (with the possible exception of the kookaburras) aren't particuarly, and the tamarins are never in the walk-through except at feeding time, the exhibits aren't particuarly exciting.

Is it true that Orangs roam free in some south-east asian zoo's, i heard rumours that this was the case in singapore zoo, does anyone know about this...

singapore famously has a free ranging orangutan exhibit where the orangutans aren't really free ranging (as in they cannot come in contact with the public....I think). The zoo has a huge social group of orangutans (i'm not sure the exact number) The orangs are confined to mature natural trees in addition to these trees, extra vines and climbing facilities are added to lessen the impact of the orangutans on the trees. I beleive they are confined by hotwire that is far enough from the ground for the orangs to jump from, when needed I believe the keepers have poles to reach above the hotwire to collect an orang from the trees.

Yes

Singapore Zoo

There Website, And Its Exactly What You Say, There Doesnt Seen To Be Any Troubles As They Have 25 Orangs And Have Bred Over The Years (Producing 33 Little Orangs lol )

What I Find Funny Is The Singapore Zoo Website Is Zoo.com , simples :o

There is also a collection in France - maybe Doué - that has a walk through with vultures, maybe a kind of macaques too.

I think the lemur walk-through at Edinburgh is excellent, very well landscaped and immersive.

Wwalkthrough enclosures in the UK

off the top of my head heres a list of all the walktrhough's in the Uk, that I know of. It would be great if someone could do the same for america and mainaland europe

Lemur walkthrough's* @ Dudley, Howletts, Bristol, Whipsnade, Cotswolds, Woburn, Manor House wildlife park, Blackpool, Yorkshire wildlife park, Paignton, Monkey World and edinburgh

Tamarins/marmosets @ Marwell (golden lion tamarin), Lakeland wildlife oasis (common marmosets), Paingotn used to have tamarins free roaming in a wood but I am unsure whether they still do. Colchester

Squirrel monkeys @ Blackpool (in the amazonia exhibit), London, Woburn, lakeland wildlife oasis

White faces Saki monkey @Blackpool

Red Titi Monkeys @ Blackpool

Wallabies (parma and bennetts) @ Manor house wildlife park, Colchester

Barbary Macaques @ Monkey Forest

Bats @ Longleat (egyptian fruit bat), Chester (various species), West midlands safari park (various species) Bristol zoo (Livingstopnes fruit bat in an outdoor cage

unfortunatley I have to depart, knowing full well there are more walkthough enclosures in the UK  Oh well I'll try and complete it at a later date :) Others are welcome to ad to it or correct it.

*I was unsure whether or not to include south lakes where the lemurs are technically free roaming

Im not sure that the lemurs are still free roaming, especially after the fire
(look at wikipedia for that, just go on the south lakes wild animal park doc and theres a paragraph on it...)

Dudley has an indoor walk-through exhibit with squirrel monkeys ( breeding ) , white-faced sakis ( males ) and Goeldi's monkeys ( females ) plus small-clawed otters and meercats in enclosures which the monkeys could access .

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo has two walk-through aviaries and a walk-through kangaroo yard with Eastern grey kangaroos.

Woburn does have a lorikeet walkthrough, although at the minute there is dusky lories, and red lories the rainbow lorikeets are in a different area for a short time to allow the rainbow lorikeets to breed.
