She was due on the 25 of December according to a zookeeper I asked. So it's now 10 days overdue. Not much compared to the mammoth pregnancy she has had.

I bet they're hoping so too so that all the families that have already visited to see wild seas will have to go again for the baby . :)
 
Her due date has passed now I think. I'm fairly sure it was officialy late December. I'm keeping an eye on the news reports for the announcement.

should be very close to the birth now. On sunrise this morning they had the vet talking from melbourne zoo about dokkon, and he was saying that her hormones were or have changed. And melbourne zoo vet also said that the baby was in breach position, but they are doing exersisses to try and turn it around so i hope they can get it to happen. any thoughts.

I hope they do not leave it till late as this would mean full time intervention on the part of the vet/keeper staff.

Are the IZW people still there? They would know how to deal with that eventuality!

i only now wat was on synrise and wat the vet said but the international vet guy has been flown in and as far as i know they are confident that her age and how fit she is , that the pregnancy will still go well. they acturally showed her doing one of her exercise to try and turn the baby around. I dont know any thing about elephant births but i know that with other animals when the baby is in breach it can put more risk with the birth, so i imagine that it would be similar for elephants.
