Californian Sealions in Europe

Hi everyone - i was wondering if anyone out there could help me out with some info on californian sea lions in Europe...
im looking for updated info on Names, sex, birthdates, lineage etc - Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any idea, how many of them are living in european zoos and aquariums ? They are the second common pinniped species here after harbor seals...

I'm not sure, if there is a studbook for californian sealions, if yes, it might be the best help for you, to get the informations you want.

Afaik, an ESB (European Stud Book) is run for them by mr. Meijer from the "Ouwehands Dierenpark" in Rhenen, the Netherlands. You could give it a try;

If it's of any help Longleat Safari Park in the UK have had a breeding group for many years I think they still live in the Hippo lake.

They didn`t in April last year when I visited thats not say some may have arrived since.

When I went in April they had 2 young Male South American Sealions that had arrived 2 weeks prior to my visit,were they in the end pool with the under water viewing in it?

That may be what I saw then. What species was the large male?

Depends on which enclosure if its the same one it should be another South American Sealion,if it was in one of the other pools it will be the pair of Male South African Fur Seals that came from Combe Martin Wildlife Park.

I do have a list of that. A while back, I tried to make an overview of all the California sea lions in Europe, because there are so many of them, I did not go any further than just making a list of every zoo with California sea lions in Europe. The numbers are also included in the list, although I don't know the numbers of every zoo.
