Ahh look the kangeroo's had some baby's (Parma wallaby's in the kangeroo cage Dudley Zoo)
I wouldn't have minded but they were standing right next to the sign's for the animals
Quite a funny quote from a grandma at Marwell today whilst she was reading out the sign by the snow leopards to her family: "Eats sheep, goats, rodents and eight year-old boys called Jack" his dad went on to tease him that owls ate the same thing, making him quite grumpy.
Best one I've heard for a long time was in 2008 at Chester. A lady looked at a female Philippine Spotted Deer and said to her companion, "I never knew they kept hyenas."
Or shouting happy feet at penguins! I heard someone call a cassowary a peacock once - it's sad more people don't actually read the signs but I think a lot of people don't really want to find out anything about animals they just want to take a photo and move on. Zoos in general really need to try and work out innovative ways of getting info across or they can't really say they are educating visitors - it's not easy with some people though.
Just got back from Dudley Zoo and Have to tell you all this a mother turn to her daughter and said look that's the rarest animal in Britain today as I looked it was a keeper cleaning a cage out the Daughter asked her mom why and mom replied it's a man working!
