Zoo Dresden New tropical house

The first foundations have been laid for a new tropical house at Dresden zoo, due to open in 2010, this house will accomodate monkeys, crocodiles and koala, and will cost around 7 million euro.

Does anyone have any information about this new exhibit?
 
That sounds pretty cool! I would also like to know more about the house and where it is situated.
 
Does somebody know something new for Prof. Brandes Haus? Will it really open in 2010? And do you know exactly when?
I saw on the zoo Dresden website, they plan to keep woolly monkey. Is this true? Where do the monkeys come from? Maybe it is written on the zoo website, but my German is not good to understand it.
 
Well, i've seen photo's of the development stage at december 2009 and it seemed to be coming along quite well, so considering the weather conditions it might be a bit delayed but i think it'll be opened reasonably on time in 2010.

They actually do plan to keep woolly's. Their site mentions the fact that they kept them before, but not where the animals are coming from. Gaiapark Kerkrade had a youngster last year, and Apenheul is still doing well with them. I don't know how well Basel and Monkey World are doing, but i think there are options to get a breeding pair together...
 
No koalas for Prof. Brandes Haus. If I understand well (please correct me if I am not right), but it looks there are no available koalas for Dresden zoo... at least now

Monkey World has had at least three successful Woolley Monkey births as of 2009, although one of the three infants did die suddenly when it was a few months. It and the other two were male, but I'm not sure if there are any babies due this year.
 
New Prof. Brandes-Haus is opened from July...photos with comments are in gallery. All in all a big improvement for guerezas and lion-tailed macaques...a new wonderful woolly monkeys.
Old Monkey House is closed now, but two gellada males moved to its bathrooms :confused:. The old place for saltwater crocodile in Terrarium is under some reconstruction work, but I dont know anything more. According to the recent succes in Prague zoo I wouldnt be suprised if this place will house Komodo dragons :D
Young goral is really cute :)
