It was alright, just a bit annoying at times. Like one kid went over to one enclosure couldnt see anything so just went 'boring' and then went to the ring tailed lemurs and said 'oh, racoons, boring'.

Although I did laugh really hard at one thing, and I shouldnt have really. But there was a couple debating on whether there were lions there. They consulted the map and they were saying 'Tigers, Snow Leopards... no Lions', and then he went 'No, I do beg your pardon 'Golden Lion Tamarins', so they do have them. Where are they then?'

A proper facepalm moment, there. xD

Well if today is anything to go by, I would assume some Ocelot Kittens will be on their way, lol.

I'm confused by this because the 2009 Annual Report says that of the original 1.3 ocelots at the beginning of last year, 1 died and 1 departed the collection, leaving 0.2

Red Panda

This was taken in January this year, judging by this pick I assume this is not the bald tailed Red panda, and I've never seen the bald tailed one so i don't know how bald it is.

I hope this sheds some light on how many Red Pandas at Marwell.

and hopefully I've managed to put a pic with this lol

Well, from what I saw, there was definately... ahem... going's on. The one on top was biting the one underneath's neck and everything.

Hmmm, well then it must just be incredibly elusive.

Ocelots

The male died last year and one of the young females left. This leaves the mother and 1cub So there will be no cubs! (unless a new male has arrived recently - but I really don't think this is the case:))

I asked Marwell about the "elusive" red panda on their Facebook page and this was their reply "Both our pandas are here, hope you get to see them both on your next visit." I guess we'll just have to keep looking!

I like standing looking up in the tree at nothing in particular.

It's amazing how many saps will imitate you and 'spot' a non-existant panda.

Wicked, I know, but funny.

can i ask y was another thread made for this?

The original thread, it was felt was too long and far too much info, if you wanted to refer back, so simpler to top and tail it.:)
But for all those Marwell regulars, any news outwith your visits, please post separately.

Hi everyone went to Marwell today and at last both Red pandas where in their enclosure i did get some pics of both together but they would not keep still and im not a great photographer did get a nice one of the bushy tailed panda tho will put pics up today.

Re Zooman1

Hi Zooman1,

Thanks for letting us know about the Red Panda.

The bushy tailed Red Panda must like you he has stayed hidden from the rest of us since before the New Year.

Could you tell me if the female Amur Leopard was out today when I went last Sunday for some reason she was shut in her den until at least 1400 when I left for the day.

Thanks Kwame

Hi Kwame sorry cant update you with the Amur leopards both cats where inside and did not come out when i was at their cage although it looked like both doors where open for them to come out
sorry i cant help

Thanks Zooman1 for the update,

On Sunday the door to the female den was closed when I went.

I was just hoping she had not been taken ill. If that was the case I guess she must be better now if she was able to leave the den if she wished.

Of course there are other reasons that the door may have been closed.

fingers crossed she was just having a off day.
could only see one tiget today he/she was sat on the table in the den by the viewing window had lots of people around so good not get a good look both snow leopards where flaked out in the snow sleeping so no good pics of those to lol.
im still hopeing that one day i go the wildebeest will be out in the paddock

Unlikely now, as Newquay have had problems mixing their black wildebeest with their chapman's zebras from what I've heard. I'm hoping they'll build a divide in the paddock.
