UNDER THE POLES

With the earth warming up and the South and North poles decreasing in size I was just wondering if you had thought what animals of land or sea could be trapped inside the mass of ice that makes up both poles.

What decrease? The antarctican icesheet is growing, and the arctic icesheet is for the first time since 2001 above average again. Besides, with the recent confessions of ipcc officials that all data about the climate have been manipulated, and that global temperatures still follow the normal pattern of warm and cold periods, even global warming is very doubtfull, to say the least.

I know for a fact that there are aliens down there, they're sometimes seen fighting Predators. ;)

I saw on Ice Age 2 that there are, like, aquatic dinosaur things in suspended animation in the ice

The only creatures that I know are buried in the Ross Ice Shelf date from around 100 years ago. They are the carcases of the dogs and ponies from the polar expeditions, plus the bodies of Captain Scott, Lt Bowers and Dr Wilson (buried in their tent), of Captain Oates (never found) and of AB Evans (buried in the Beardmore Glacier). They will all eventually reach the edge of the ice (the Great Ice Barrier as the Edwardians called it) and then float off into the Ross Sea in icebergs.

Yes the climate is changing, but I would worry more what happens when we are running out of oil, we became totally dependent of it.

OFF TOPIC no.1;
First of all, Johnny is rather in denial of any global warming and has been for a while now. Despite the fact that some people may overstate the speed things are changing, i doubt very few scientist are debating the fact THAT it's changing. Wether we'll see the direct consequences in 50 or in a 100 years doesn't really matter in my opinion. Global warming is happening, and is having a detrimental effect on biodiversity, our foodproduction and the sea-level. It's time we try and cut back on it...

Totally different debate, but i think this won't be a big problem. We won't "run out of oil" in a days time. What will happen is that the oil production will start slowing down, and it'll be harder to extract it from the earth. That'll mean that the oil prices will slowly go up, to a point that producing other means to replace it will become more and more cost-effective.

You can allready see it in electric cars, but also in the development of solar powerstations and solar panels for home-use. Oil will get slowly replaced by other things, it's the market at work.

Jwer, there is actually a lot of doubt about global warming and the effects of it on the world. And it's quite scary that all evidence showing there's no global warming is being ignored, and all other theories except the carbon-dioxide theory are also ignored. That's no science, that is deceipt.

If data from colder area's are left out of the equasion since 1990, if sealevels are not rising according to satellite readings and scientists keep telling the opposite despite of the readings, if the graphics that are used to 'prove' global warming exists ( the so called 'hockeystick') deliberately leave out comparible periods with relative warmth, if the scientists keep saying that the world is getting hotter while the average global temeprature is going down since 1998, if they keep telling the poles are melting, while antarctica's icesheet is growing and the northpole is back at normal, if scientist have already proven that glaciers are not melting, but shrinking due to a decrease of snowfall, and if even sources within the ipcc admit they have tampered with evidence and admit that there's no reason to be alarmed about the climate, I wonder why the global warming theory should not be seen as deceipt.

All I can say is that I wish we could all be as blisful as you.

Johnny one question for you how do we now that the North Pole is back to normal
As I understand it the ice left on Both Poles is actually left over from the Ice Age Fact.
So if it's back to normal after shrinking for thousands of years does this mean that we are actually entering a second Ice Age as it seems to be growing again.
This is how the alleged first Ice Age started.
Please don't believe everything that the scientists tell you they only tell you what they believe not what they know.

Anyway back to the thread Imyself believe there are many types of sea mammals held within the ice caps and if we could get to them then maybe we could actually find something out about our past

Normal is what we have got used to, is that a better way of saying it? There have been multiple ice ages the last millions of years, we are now in a so- called interglacial period.

@ redpanda, it's not being blisfull, the simple fact is that the global warming theory is still a theory and very controversial. But I am really worried however, because of the fact media and believers in the theory present it as a fact instead of a theory, and the fact that governments are buying this, and don't pay attention to the scientific controverse.

Very few actual scientists dispute that global warming is occuring, what is disputed by some is what the causes are but that is a different issue. If we listen to you and other such "blisfuls" then we may leave it too late before acting. Just because temperatures lower for a few years does not mean that they are not increasing in the grand scheme of things (and indeed there has been an increase of around 0.6 degrees celcius in the past hundred years - most of that in the last three decades).

Ehm, most scientists dispute it actually. And a lot of those who do not dispute that, indeed dispute the given cause. The increase of global temperatures was the thing that fitted in the grand scheme of things. Now there's a decrease occuring. The grand scheme of things is that climate is constantly changing, with periods of several decades with in- and decrease. According to scientists we are now coming out of a period of increase and going into decrease. But the big question is, why doesn't this make headlines, and every remark about 'global warming' does?

Most? Undoubtedly some do and others don't think that we have enough evidence but that does not make the theory untrue - the idea of natural selection was universally discredited when first proposed. Anyway, just because there is a recent increase in temperature and some newspapers go overboard on its effects does not mean global warming is not occuring. I am not a scientist but believe the evidence that I have been presented with, if you feel otherwise then don't expect me to keep arguing about it.

Johnny and Redpanda don't forget many leading scientists of the time once decided that the world was flat
what do scientists know untill it is put in front of there eyes?

Indeed, nothing. And on any other terrain no decision would be made with such controversial and corrupted evidence. There would be large-scale investigations to uncover the truth. That's my point all along. How can people be so stubborn in maintaining a theory into reality and completely ignore the controversy?

All we have to do is ask people who live on or by the poles and peope who work there but have no commitment to any theory and they'll tell you straight that the ice caps are melting and some at alarming rates but because these are people who work or live near the poles and not management or scientists then we don't here to much from them.
I'd rather listen and believe people who actually have the real expierence then someone in a white coat and with a piece of paper to front up on TV or in front of any type of media
I still say we could learn alot from the sea life trapped inside the ice
