Don't WWT sites and Sea Life Centres count as Zoological Collections anymore? What about Pensthorpe? London Aquarium? The Deep?

Also I do not see Living Coasts, Manor House or Trotters World of Animals there...

Also... I like the fact this list is essentially all in alphabetical order... A big coincidence that she remembered each Zoo in alphabetical order.

trotters world 3
living coasts 1
manor house 2
london sealife centre 4
alton towers 2

Welcome Cheetah girl. And I really think that although we are zoofans does it relly matter if she has or has not visited 200 zoos I mean come on guys get a life.
Actually yes I do think it matters if you are going to say you have visited every zoo in the UK,at least be able to back the statement up,because I know for fact that I have visited over 200 collections in the UK and still haven`t been to every collection in the UK.

For your german zoos: What a weird tour must this have been?! Thats random zoos all over. And why duisburg twice and not one of the other big zoos near by?

I'm sorry folks, but some obvious trolls are just obvious!

Hi all
I was going to introduce myself but having seen the pathetic competition zoogiraffe has initiated with a 12year old girl I dont think this is a forum I will be visiting often. Well done cheetahgirl for visiting that many zoological parks at such a young age and for standing up for yourself against certain members of this forum, who at 38 really should be encouraging a young person to pursue a passion for zoos and conservation rather than engage in the petty tit for tat that has been posted previous. Having looked at your profile zoogiraffe, I see that you are not a zoo professional. I have also looked at what you have posted on other threads and must say that a lot of your arguments and discussions seem to be based on second hand knowledge or heresay. Being an experienced zoo professional myself nothing grates me more than people who are quick to criticise zoos without having first hand knowledge of the workings of a specific zoo. I would re-iterate this statement to all those other members who have been quick to laugh at cheetahgirl's claim.
Cheetahgirl keep going with your obvious love of animals and zoos. It does not matter how many different zoos you visit, as long as you have an understanding and respect for why they are there and what they are aiming to achieve. If you need any advice on following your chosen career path you can send me a private message.
My very best regards and an apology to the members of this forum who do retain respect for other members.

Sorry, but I think most people on this forum who have read cheetahgirl's posts recognise that her statement was evidently incorrect. This is not a case of zoogiraffe bullying a twelve year old, he is exposing what she says as false which, on a forum such as this, is vital.

Now call me sad, but by my calculations cheetahgirl has visited zoos 193 times in nine years which is around one every 16 days. This is not to mention the travel time to places like germany and south africa or those that she will invariably have visited if I care to point out anymore she has missed (according to Tim Brown's book around a hundred and fifty). For someone of her age this seems a trifle unlikely and, in order to do it, she would need parents who are serious zoo/wildlife enthusiasts. After all, I know from experience that diseinterested parents would not endure that many zoos. Why then, would those enthusiast parents visit East Africa and only go to the Serengeti? Having been myself I can tell you that very few tours go to only one game reserve and even less do that are for serious enthusiasts. This is because you find very different species/environments in the different parks and I would imagine that anyone interested enough to visit a zoo every two weeks would want to see as many different species as possible. And incidentally, anyone who has been to the Serengeti would most certainly know that the Plains Zebra is not an endangered species as Cheetahgirl claimed in the Colchester Zoo "Spring Thread".

Not only this, but her list is accurate enough that, despite it being very long, she can remember the number of times she has visited each different collection (even into the late teens). The only way you could feasibly do this is if you had already prepared a checklist in which case why did she miss collections out which she later claimed to have visited? Surely if she did write from a list (and I fail to see how she could remember the number of visits otherwise), there would be no emissions as it would be a simple matter of copying it out.

Furthermore, despite making numerous comments in the colchester threads, why has cheetahgirl not said anything in, for example, the london zoo thread as she has apparently visited it more times. The only comment that I can find from her in regards to London was to say that they should replace their gorillas with orangs, which anyone who had visited gorilla kingdom would realise is a majorly bad idea as it is completely unsuitable for this highly arboreal ape.

Finally, the cherry on top was my question of what she thought of shaldon's new area. I have seen pictures of it and know that it is open but at the same time know that very little has been posted about it on zoochat. As such, she clearly has no idea what it is like (despite having visited "yesterday") hence not replying to me yet doing so to everyone else.

This is not bullying, this is exposing a liar.

And is what she said really so vital to anything???? She may (or may not) be giving false information about the number of zoos she has been to. But, in the grand scheme of things, is it really that important? She has not been giving false information on this thread about those zoos, which is actually what is vital on forums such as this.
The point I was trying to make was that even if the number of zoos has been exaggerated, there are more effective ways for supposed adults to deal with youngsters' misguided enthusiasm. To start a petty debate about who has been to the most zoos and trying to trip the girl up was completely unnecessary. I wish the kids who visited my zoo were half as enthusiatic about the animals as cheetahgirl is, instead of intent on teasing the animals. This passion should be encouraged not shot down in flames just because of an over active imagination.
And hey even if cheetahgirl is actually 40years old and not 12, these forums should be about healthy discussion concerning zoo issues. I dont believe trying to prove someone wrong about the number of zoos they have visited quite comes under that banner. Anyone offended or who has issues with such claims should really just ignore it and perhaps concentrate on sharing and gaining knowledge about the zoo community.

Finally anyone who felt they really had to question her claims should really have had the decency to first welcome her to the forum before attacking her. This is after all the section of the forum that is supposed to be used as an introduction platform and that was the original intent of this thread.

If she lies about this, what else will she lie about? And I have already conversed with cheetahgirl on several occasions so it seems a little late to welcome her.

What do you want then? Everyone lie as he (or she) pleases?

Yes, it's good when kids are into this zoo-stuff. But i know many kids that are zoo-interested, not making lists of Zoos they claim to have visited.

Yeah, you are right, who cares if she lies or tell the truth...
If everyone would handle it this way zoochat would be a very poor page!

I think there is a fine line between attacing and pointing out some things.

Ok I think we have to be very careful about calling people liars without proper evidence. Just maybe you should all take this forum a little less serious - after all anyone and everyone could be posting whatever the hell they want on here. It is a public forum and everything on here should be taken with a pinch of salt. One girl shouldnt be singled out for it.

I think this thread has gone as far as it can as a welcome, it has turned into something far removed from a welcome, or i should say the welcome is not playing any part in this thread.
Welcome to the site cheetahgirl and zoo friend, hopefully we can hear your views on the zoos you have visited and have been involved in, because that is what we are all here for.

If anyone feels the need to continue any issues raised, please feel free to use the PM's provided, and keep this off the public side of the site.
