Chester Zoo Chester circa 1991

Sadly she died. She was originally thought to be a HE and was named Bruno. There is another thread about her somewhere. Does anyone have a picture of her? I saw her once, but I overlooked her, and now I regret not having taken a picture. Parc paradisio keep 0.0.6 verminculated fihing owls.

The four eyed turtles at the zoo are amazing. I've seen them, but they are off show. Are there plans to bring them on-show? They are supposed to be very shy and nervous. Chester is one of the only zoos to keep two species.

When i went behind the scences in August their was no mention of putting them on show or for that matter their are no plans to put on show the Vietnamese Mossy Frogs,Zhous Box Turtle or the Climbing Tree Toads(Pedostibes hosei).
 
It's the same everywhere, all the interesting reptiles and amphibians are off show, and every collection has the same old stuff like anacondas, sanzinias, rhinoceros iguanas. Herp fans are the forgotten zoo visitors.

Yep i agree with you their but at least they will be putting on show the Phillipine Crocs when they arrive,but at least Chester does have a few unusual species of herp on show.
 
This will give the Philippine crocs plently of space then, since they are getting both of the pools then.
 
Yes, i'd imagine the dividing wall and that rope bridge will be gone, leaving the large pool that once held the American Alligators.
 
I Always though keeping alligators in that pool was rather stupid, it always seemed a little too small for them.
 
Im not sure i think they're bigger than dwarfs (obv) but smaller than niles and saltwater, so about a middle sized crocodile. I May be wrong and they could be huge though!!
 
They are quite small crocodiles really. Toddy has done an article on Asian Crocs for my site and here's the bit about Philippine crocs:

The philippine crocodile (crocodylus mindorensis) has recently made a comeback into the European zoos. Crocodile Zoo in Denmark has managed to import 15 philippine crocs from a farm in the Philippines, and they are now being distributed around to other European zoos. These include, London Zoo, Chester Zoo, Zurich Zoo and the Bergen Aquarium. The philippine crocodile is the second smallest species of crocodile, with an average maximum length at only 2,5 meters (8,20 feet). Its favourite habitat is marshland, and it lives spread throughout the Philippine islands. It is classified as critically endangered; with only 27 ISIS registered crocs, beside those 15 from Crocodile Zoo. Until very recently, the philippine crocodile was considered to be a subspecies of the New Guinean crocodile.
