Bristol Zoo (Closed) Gorilla swap with london

To my knowledge i know that 6-7 years ago London swapped their male Jock(who is still at bristol) with bristols male (bobby?). I was just wondering if anyone new anything about this. Was it bobby bristol swapped with london or was it another male? why did they swap? when was it?

The swap was made in July 2003 and yes, it involved Bobby(then Bongo) and Jock.

I believe it was felt each male might do better from an exchange- Jock was aggressive with the females at London and had to be seperated from some of them, while at Bristol, Bobby/Bongo was not interested in Romina(who he grew up with at Rome Zoo) or Salome.

Jock continued to be aggressive when he moved to Bristol and was initially put on calming drugs, but he was also a breeder. Bongo/Bobby was a 'soft' male and at least London were able to keep him with their females as one group even if there was no breeding.
