Edinburgh Zoo
Fota Wildlife Park
Marwell Zoo
Paignton Zoo

*One visit per year only

Edinburgh Zoo also includes Highland Wildlife Park and Newquay is also included, well it was when I went.

Wow, sounds like a nice collection. Shame London isn't on there as that is one that I'd like to go to, but Colchester and Edinburgh are my faves in UK after Chester :).

I like Colchester but thought it was too commercial, anywho, its worth taking your Membership card and paper to every zoo as you never know when you will get a pheasant (pleasant) suprise! For example, we took ours, just by chance, to both Newquay and Highland Wildlife Park and both took Chester Members!

I'm at Chester tomorrow, sorry about short notice - my school have an INSET day

It was very busy today with a ton of school visits!

Not an awful to report - my mum finally got her first sighting of a Giant Otter after half and hour of waiting...

There was a man giving a keeper at the Jaguars a hard time about Pele not going outside - however I think he does pace around an awful lot.

One Elephant had a large object hanging from it's rear end - I thought it was Sithami but after a closer look it looked a bit more like Jangoli. After a while, the object went back in, anyway. I can't really tell my Elephants apart, so could this be baby number one on the way?

I'm back at the zoo on Sunday if anything needs doing.

Jangoli is easy to tell apart because she only has half a tail.

I spent half my time trying to dodge school parties, the zoo was busier today than I've known for several years. Hope all the children spent a lot of money in the shop and kiosks.

Still haven't seen the duiker.

No sign of the tragopan again but there's also a Pekin Robin or if you prefer, red-billed Leiothrix, in the same aviary.

A lot of visitors complaining about the lack of flowers in the gardens and the lack of sealions.

Swallows are nesting in the toilet block by the owls and also on the toilets opposite the jaguars.

Will be visiting again in September for 3 days so here is a question I would like some help on.
Does anyone know of a good bed & breakfast place near by the zoo, as long as it's cheap and does a good breakfast that's all that matters

It is thought she has a single cub which is doing well at the moment and was born 22nd/23rd June.

Sounds adorable, I can't wait to keep an eye out for it on the 11th :). I never even knew she had been pregnant, they've kept that one quiet.

It's not due out of the nest until September, so you'll have to make do with the CCTV pictures, that is unless she's in the box without a camera.

Yeah, I'll [hopefully] see them on camera and would be happy with that. I will no doubt see them on another visit later in the year :). Also, will the zoo not publicise this until they emerge? (nothing on website or facebook page as of yet)

The zoo doesn`t normally annouce any birth until after 30 days,of an animal being born just in case something goes wrong, because on the whole the survival rate of young animals increase greatly after the 30 day period.

Back from Chester, not much to report:
The Red Panda cub is fine.
I got my first sighting/pictures of the duiker! (Will upload later)
There seems to be a lot of new info signs around - Camels, Onagers and Giraffes are some of those that have new info signs.

Plus I saw the unidentified zoochatter from last week again (if they are a zoochatter) - this time with their daughter...
