I know this is an old thread, but can anyone tell me about the place? I've heard them described as a zoo, rescue centre, and sanctuary, I wondered what was going on there?

After having a quick look on their facebook page it seems they had a lemur stolen recently! Anyone have any more info on this?

the lemur was stolen between 16th and 17th March 2012 (and a parrot a couple of days before), lots of news items about it on google. Interestingly, there's also an earlier article (from December 2011) of a mystery lemur found on Tooting Common (Lemur found on Tooting Common not from Battersea zoo (From Your Local Guardian)) with a comment at the bottom saying "the lemur was stolen some time ago from Beaver Water World...."
