Great Hoof-Stock/Antelope Enclosures/Collection

They were moved to another zoo for the knew Asian Tropics exhibit. I also know that they breed a lot and they had 2 exhibits they rotated through. I think there was four.
 
I was there last year and saw a breeind group of mishimis. I was glad they where in a breeding situation as well as the cape buffalo. To many mainstream zoos dont breed there ungulate species like they should.
 
I just checked ISIS and it still shows 2.1 Mishmi Takins in Denver Zoo. I wonder if they are still at the zoo, but just off exhibit.

I'm not sure about their lone saiga. I've contacted them about that and they said they didn't have it. If you don't want to do a photo caravan then do the Savanna Safari Asia and Africa ($35 each).
 
I think in the case of the ISIS many facilities haven't updated their animal and species count since they are constantly changing... especially for the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park
 
Has anyone heard of Longoria's Ranch in texas? I'm not sure if that's the name of the ranch but I know it's the name of the owners
 
Ive just discovered this thread (or should I say had the time to read through it) and it has gave me loads of information. I also like Hoofstock so its all good!
 
I'm not sure. I called the NBJ Zoological Park cuz they were the only place i could find with chamois but he said he sold them to Longoria's (at least thats what it sounded like he said).

Anyone else know where chamois could be found?
 
I glad you were able to contact NBJ Zoo. I don't think they have a website do they? Are they open to the public?
 
No they don't... i could only find info on them on one website. Theyre not open to the public but he seems like an easy-going guy so maybe he would set up something special for you.
 
Having visited 320 zoos in the US and around the world, I believe The East Berlin Zoo has the largest collection of hoofstock. They benefitted from being an Eastern Bloc country, whiuch gave them access to hoofstock from Russia, Mongolia, and China.
 
I know that originally this thread was about North American hoofstock collections, but some European examples like Tierpark Friedrichsfelde have already been mentioned. What surprises me is that no one came up with Tallinn Zoo so far-which only underlines the importance of having to post the pics I made of it almost two weeks ago ( I hope the segment of the Gallery will till then be ready). @ jedibiscuits: Due to Asian Tropics these animals are no longer on exhibit. Not sure if there are future plans to bring them back, or if they have left the collection, but still dissapointing even despite making way for a great elephant complex.:(

Great hoofstock collections! Glad to know that some zoos have not got rid of such great animals as reedbuck or turs or even Blackwildebeest!!

Best hoofstock collections I have seen besides Denver are St. Louis, San Diego when they still had saiga, Wild Animal Park, and Fossil Rim.
