With the new birth at Taronga Zoo, I Thought I would start an 'up-to-date' list of the current Pygmy Hippos in AUS. If you can add/correct any info please feel free...

So is Timmy, Petra and the new baby exhibited near the meerkats and then Petra in the African Waterhole?

You may of added another female to the current population if the female that was allowed wander around the outback for a number of years was captured and included in the current zoo population also it's possible she may of been bred and added to the regions small population ;)

According to the studbook:-

‘Ady’ female born Sydney 31 October 1985; (father ‘Timmy’; mother ‘Cookie’).

Sent to Arnhem 16 June 1988; died 11 May 1992.

As far as i know that is correct. Timmy and Petra and her calf are rotated between the main exhibit and Katie is living by herself down at the waterhole.

Thanks. Does anyone know if Katie will be moved to another zoo or will she just live her life out at Taronga?
