Official ZooChat Rankings?

"One of these things is not like the other..."

Are you really that concerned about it? If the Zoo X is ranked 14th, when maybe it should have been ranked 10th, is that really going to cause problems?

We've seen top 10 lists done by the media before; ours will be significantly better than those.

No, if it's all in fun then I say have at it. (Which was your original suggestion, I believe)

If it is to be promoted as the stamp of approval by the prestigious ZooChat Forum, then it ought to have some meaning and not be based on merely seeing pictures or hearing other people's opinions.

I never said anything about being a stamp of approval by the forum. Even if it was, I don't see how that could possibly be done in a way that would satisfy you.

No need to get defensive or pissy. In my post #20 I was contrasting your statements with geomorph's

If the poll feature is limited to 10 then I would favor the hand-tally method. The question is, would the hand-tally be weighted? If Ellen Trout Zoo is consistently ranked between 20-25 on many people's lists and mentioned more than Sedgwick County Zoo in consistently 10-15 ranks, does Ellen Trout take the lead over Sedgwick in the final list? Any lurking statistics junkies available to help on this?

Yes, it would be weighted. The #1 zoo on a list would receive 25 points, #2 24 points, down to #25 getting 1 point.

Well in order for this to achieve its goal, we would need a lot more than 5 people participating.

I'll help but I think someone needs to set all of the rules straight before it starts.

Along with analyzing our own zoo visits, we look through the gallery and the reviews on this site and at whatever other resources we want to look at, which most of us do anyway, and we rank the zoos from 1-25. Or perhaps a lower number if that's too much for people.

A first place vote is worth 25 points, while a 2nd place vote is worth 24, all the way down to a 25th place vote being worth 1 point.

Not sure what rules there would be otherwise besides telling people not to be homers for their local zoos. I mean if I put Maryland Zoo in the top 15, that would be blatantly showing my bias. So if someone does something like that, we can not count that vote or have them re-rank it.
