Does anybody know when the hunting dogs are arriving at chester?
In the current edition of Z magazine for members, Mark Pilgrim says that the exhibit should be open at Easter next year.

I was surprised that I could not find a single mention of the 'Natural Vision' plans in the same Z magazine mentioned above .
Is it just a money matter for this new super zoo before anything starts to happen????
I think planning for 'Heart of Africa' goes ahead this month, but I think the project will be on hold anyway due to funding cuts by the government.
Would the zoo give an Easter opening date if the funding hadn't been approved or found from somewhere else? It would cause a lot of disappointment if that were the case.
me too jahvan rhino
Anyway, roll on the hunting dogs![]()
Well said, they will make a brilliant addition (though I already fill up my memory card, I'll have to get another if they bring anything else in soon ;p)
You can't have too much memory!
What would you do if something spectacular happened - like watching and photographing a birth - and you ran out of bytes?
I carry 5 cards totalling 19 GBand I've never run out yet.
Alan
The alien would probably teleport back home instead of waiting for you to delete some shots. If something so spectacular happened then I'd be forced to delete a couple of pics at the moment.

I'm with Alan on this, you should always have storage headroom. I carry at least 32GB and have on occasion needed more (although I always shoot RAW, never JPEG). You can get a 4GB type 1 CF card from Amazon for £9.99 these days.
I'm with Alan & SMR on this you should always carry spare cards I carry 20GB spare plus the one I'm using and a spare battery comes in very handy
You can pick them up from most supermarkets or Electrical stores
keep your eyes open for special offers asda were doing 2 x 4GB for £10.00 the other day don't know if they are still doing it
I won't go further off-topic here, but I think I may start a thread about this sort of thing in the Photography section soon. See you there.
Alan
The plans were posted as a case study on the zoo's old website, so that's probably where you saw them. I'm told they've been changed quite significantly at least twice since, for example, the old bus will no longer be part of the exhibit.On-topic, has anybody seen plans of the enclosure anywhere (drawings etc?) and what Chester's situation will be with the Wild Dogs? I think I've seen plans somewhere, but can't remember where. (Also, are the porcupines a permenant fixture where they are (old Przewalski's Horse hardstanding) or will this also be given over to the dogs?
