Does anyone know which zoo in the US has the largest elephant herd? It seems like most zoos have only two or three.

Maybe your thread should included Canada as they are part of North America they also have some large herds ;)

Is there a particular species you are talking about?

I would presume for Asians it would be San Diego Zoo as they have 1.7 (1.4 Indian, 0.2 Sri Lankan, 0.1 Indian-Sumatran(?) ) according to ISIS

For Africans (bush) I presume San Diego WAP with 4.8.

Hope that helps :)

Well I'm not so sure about Asian elephants, but the Indianapolis Zoo does have a really beautiful and expansive African elephant enclosure. They have a lot of elephants and a huge bull elephant; it's all a part of their breeding program. There's also a couple white rhinos which are nice to view as well.

While it's not a zoo, the Barnum and Bailey circus has a large, successfully breeding herd of Asian elephants.
