British Zoo Bird Collections

I am trying to get together a full index of birds that are actually being kept in british animal collections
I would be very gratefull if you could help me by sending me or putting your local collections in this thread.
I have the full collections for Dudley, Birmingham Nature Centre & Hagley Falconry Centre
So any others would be of great interest to me and probally alot of others who use this website

This is quite a massive ask. There are so many small bird collections dotted around. But I'll try and give a list of birds at Colchester Zoo to make a start:

The reason I would like to try and get a good idea of the birds in the UK collections is that they seem to change more then any other type of species and it would be a good idea if we could try and get an idea as to who as what at the moment

Once compiled I will post a index to those who are interested

When I saw your comment I looked up Zootierliste and thought it looked really great. Having had time to look in more detail I see that some of the records are out of date by maybe a year or two for some bird species.

Nice idea but I guess they rely on their sources being up to date too. :)

Zootierliste is user-edited (like Wikipedia) - if you see something out-of-date, register and correct it! :)


My point was just that this thread will consist of lots of people posting zoo's bird collections, which is one of the things Zootierliste already does.

(and I notice from the format that the Wingz list above is from Zootierliste anyway!)

Yes most of it is however i did add some that were not on Zootierliste and when im off work next week i will edit the zootierliste listing for wingz.
