DEFRA Zoo Forums

Utter Insanity

I do hope that someone has got their quangos wrong. The UK has the best zoo legislation in the world bar none. The Zoos Forum whereas a separate issue actually sets an example as to how things should be done.
It will be a sad loss.

'The Zoos Forum whereas a separate issue actually sets an example as to how things should be done'.

Bit of a dense sentence there (or perhaps I am). Clarify please :-)

The decision seems to be 'No longer an NDPB [non-departmental public body] - Reconstitute as a committee of experts', which presumably means the work of the Forum will continue?

Wonder how much it cost to come to that decision?

Yes. It's seems that this exercise in this case was to change name of the controlling body. As for cost savings, even the government now admits "the main reason for the cull had always been to improve accountability". In any event, the Zoo Forum does not employ anyone as the members work on expenses only as far as I am aware. Although a suspect some DEFRA civil servant was involved in coordinating meetings and minutes, etc.
