Is our Snowleopard extinct on Zoochat?

Day 6 and no sightings.

I think it would be a shame if snowleopard was to disappear permanently from Zoochat, not to say l always agreed with him or thought the continual comments on enclosures was always to my liking.

I think his contribution to Zoochat was substantial especially his zoo tours.

Now l am concerned that his loss of faith in Zoochat is permanent.

It`s up to him what he wants to do,if he stays great if he goes so be it.Okay so he lost a few photos alot of us did,I lost about 200 but then i understand why Sim had to do it,in fact i think its a good idea it makes the gallery for easier to manage.

Zoochat has lost high profile members in the past remember Patrick, well surprise surprise zoochat survived that loss it will survive snowleopard if he stays away, sorry to sound so harsh with those comments but it`s true.

Zoogiraffe,

I have no doubt zoochat will continue to grow and evolve, that is not my point.

Personally l think one of the core biggest problems with society / the world is the lack of community.

From what l read in your post you very clearly show your lack of compassion "Okay so he lost a few photos alot of us did" and arrogance "well surprise surprise zoochat survived" these types of comments highlight to me what is wrong with the world.

I have always liked animals more than people, obviously just because we all like animals does not mean we will all get along.

How about we just maybe show some compassion is all l am suggesting.

Snowleopard will be back. He's too interested in zoos to walk away for good. Many a member has left but then returned, 'Sooty Mangabey' for instance. And I'm sure 'Patrick' is still lurking around here under another username.

Zoochat is like 'Hotel California' in the great Eagles song: "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" :)

For me, what's wrong with the world is that people are too quickly insulted, do not forgive or ignore things they don't like but just stomp headfirst into whatever bothers them...

True words!

I asked the IUCN to look into this for us. The report is not encouraging:

"Scientific Classification:
Domain: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Felidae
Sub-family: Pantherinae
Genus: Uncia
Specias: uncia
Sub-species: zoonerdius

Status: Presumed Extinct in the Wild

Once abundant throughout its range, subspecies U.u.zoonerdius, common name "Zoo Nerd Snowleopard", inhabitated the Zoochat forums, and was widely spread across the US, Canada, UK, European and Australian forums.

Last sighted about one week ago, the snow leopard suffered from a precipitous decline in natural prey, namely zoo photos. The animal came into frequent conflict with humans within the UK part of its range, where it developed a reputation for determinedly pulling apart wood and wire cages, to the irritation of local populations. The snow leopard is known to have greatly preferred certain types of habitat similar to those found along the North American Pacific coast.

Regulatory regimes have fallen behind in creating safe havens for this species, which has seemingly been extirpated across its native range. The sole hope for the species appears to be a breeding program based in Vancouver, Canada, where one unrelated pair have so far produced one young. Re-introduction to the wild is likely to require significant habitat reconstruction before proceeding.

This is beautiful; perhaps because it goes so close to the truth :D (with all due respect for Snowleopard )

:D:D:D That is great CGSwans.

I hope you are right Baldur.

He'll be back when he has recovered from the shock of the Great Disappearing Photos scandal.

I'm more concerned about the absence of redpanda, Jose and Dan from these forums. Their input from, respectively, Devon, Mexico City and Sweden was always worth reading. Now, silent for a while. Which is a shame!

I think we've got tio accept that zoo chatters will be leaving all the time. Besides it provides more opportunities for other members to make noatable contributions.

And what really is 6 days lots of members (like me) can be busy or away on other things so he could easily make a return.

Cannot speak for the rest but redpanda will be back given time at the moment they have far greater prioritys in there life!

I just hope our numbers keep ever expanding, not suffer loss. Especially the loss of those making regular contributions to this site. There are far too many members joining, but rarely making any effort to join in a discussion, or post a new thread. Snowleopard, redpanda, Jose and Dan. We miss you; hurry back soon.

Any one know why Okapikeeper left Zoo Chat? Snowleopard made reference to him leaving Zoo Chat for unspecified reasons during his most recent trip and makes me wonder if he to had intentions to leave Zoo Chat

His username was actually 'Okapipr' and he's a Zoochatter I miss. Short posts and comments but to the point and he has his facts clear, being a keeper.
