wa licence/pet shop licence

I'm guessing you mean exotics.

Venomous species e.g. Gaboon vipers and rattlesnakes etc need a dwa as do crocodilian species like caimans.

Bearded dragons, geckos, ratsnakes (cornsnakes inc), boas, pythons, monitor lizards, tegus, iguanas, tortoises, Hognosed snakes etc don't need a dwa license I think.

Pet shops regulary have finch species, lovebirds, cockatiels, budgerigars, macaws, african grey parrots, canaries, cockatoos etc.

Not sure if a license is needed for non dangerous exotic species.

I think this is the most recent dwa info http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1976/38/contents
might be wrong though.

Petshops have their own licencing conditions though regardless of the status of their animals. they also have to abide by CITES regulations, and I would assume article 30/60 (but I don't really know much about those and and how they work)

a pet shop is more likly to deal with individual artical 10s, a petshop licence is approved for each petshop and will state what each individual pet shop can keep depending on enclosure numbers and size, some councils allow dwa species to be kept under a petshop license however some do not. A dwa is usualy given to private keepers and is usually issued for the species which is wanting to be kept check the defra website for a full list of species covered by the dwa as it was altered a year or two ago.

thanks for the link, have been looking at older versions and somethigns seem strange, like the gila monsters on the list of animals needing a licnece but the komodo dragon isnt, that lemurs dont seem to be there and that birds of pray dont appear

Erm I think gila monsters are still on the licence along with the bearded lizard because they are venomous. I believe the lemurs species are on aswell except the wolly lemurs. Birds of prey arnt on the licence
