Chinas zoos called to stop abuse

Chinese Zoos are notorious for poor standards of animal care, and animal abuse, particularly in the form of animal 'circus-style' performances. Even Giant Pandas have been featured in these.

A few years ago there was dissent from animal rights organisations (and some local zoo supporters) when three Gorillas, assembled at Rotterdam Zoo, were sent to Shanghai from Europe, it was rumoured as an exchange for Golden Monkeys, which never arrived. But the Gorillas still went anyway.
