Bioparc Valencia Bioparc Valencia News

I guess a new gorilla troupe under Mambie with females Fossey, Bikira and hopefully a third young female.

According to the EEP sheet it is just a trio- Mambi/Fossey/Bikira- at least for the present. No third female is mentioned.

This is a zoo that will worth a vist i think and looking like to become a awardwinning zoo and a good new home for kito and jambo !

That would account for the world shortage of concrete. I'm off to Valencia in October and will visit both the aquarium and the new zoo and report back.

bio park

I have a friend who lives in Valencia - I will ask him if he has any details on the new zoo. I've been to the Oceanografic which is brilliant - especially the artic & antartic parts on a very hot day and the old zoo - which was very small especially the space for the hippo, I must post some pictures.

of late- (last night, all today) i have become obssesed with this zoo, and want to see more pics- especially a good map of the zoos plan, and the future asia exhibits.

whilst i like the concept of the zoo, and thinbk with the right people and attidude running it could well be the future of zoos, that is less emphasis on conservation, due to committment of in-situ work, but more on education of visitors, and with emphasis on animal welfare- thats why i would like to see more pics- i have seen a few pics of bare exhibits and little enrichment, can any1 help me?

Hi Zoo_Boy,

My friend, I will try and do my best to find the map on my PC again (could not find it anymore lately). Regarding the zoo, I see your point with education and visitor experience, but mind you the director is a former EAZA Director ....., so I should not be too worried if I were you! :)

To now expect the Bioparc Valencia to already take on a conservation role without a previous history of this kind of engagement is a bit over-ambitious! But come another 1-2 years and perhaps Bioparc Valencia will start to make an impression with conservation work in Madagascar, Congo and some African savannah country. It is certainly worth following up on, I agree with you there, and for a visit ... too!

So has this place got 3 male elephants and 2 females? Bit unbalanced lol

Thanks jelle,

I am realy excited about this place it looks really kool. I am still looking for more pictures, like of gorrillas, and elep[hants, but have been unable to find any.

still some exhibits seem to lack any enrichment. Such as the warthog exhibit for example. I hopefully will see it one day- maybe when the spain and australia collide in a continental shake up- so ic an just walk ;)

hello again- please any more pictures- susuan do you have any of the gorrilla exhibit?

also, jelle any luck with the map of the expansions?

sorry susan, i thought you had posted the pictures before. Is there even gorrillas in the exhibit?

I have searched and saved nearly 200 pictures from this zoo, and nothing from gorrillas, or chimps yet!

The gorilla and chimp exhibit is not yet finished and the animals are off-exhibit.

I wanna go there, really. I've heard that they will build Asia and South America soon. That will probably be totally awesome. Does anyone have any pictures from the zoo?
