Life-Lists

Just been talking about life-lists (a tick-list of seen species) and wondered how many people keep them. I've been doing something similar with my flickr page, taking pictures of as many species I see as possible (it has been pointed out that it isn't very feasible due to memory space, nocturnal houses, and just not being able to take photos in some places). In such cases then I obviously have to leave it, unless I can see the species elsewhere. Anyway, here are links to my 'sets,' if anybody fancies keeping track. Would also love to hear who else keeps them, and maybe what you think is your favourite species on the list, or what the rarest species you have seen may be :) - there are plenty of threads for what we want to see, but don't know if there are any for what we have seen :)

Mammals
'Mammals' - a set on Flickr

Birds
'Birds' - a set on Flickr

Reptiles
'Reptiles' - a set on Flickr

Amphibians
'Amphibians' - a set on Flickr

Fish
'Fish' - a set on Flickr

Invertibrates
'Invertibrates' - a set on Flickr

I still have a bit of a backlog, and I'm hoping to start a 'fish' set off tomorrow with Bangaai Cardinalfish (though fish aren't the easiest to photograph). Also, a bit of a favour, if I make a mistake with ID'ing a species then I'd be grateful to anybody for pointing it out :)

Be good to hear of your own life-lists :)

I will be updating my Flickr page quite often, but for anybody keeping track I will post here when I add new species so that they don't get missed. Oh, and does anybody know what species th Turaco is in birds? I think Fischer's, it's in the aviary on Chester Zoo's rainbow lawn. Thanks

Good idea for a thread.

I keep my pictures in folders orangized like taxonomic organization.

I also have a list of every animals ive seen and where I've seen it.

Those are very fine pictues by the way :)

Thanks KCZooFan :) - I'm going to try and formulate a list at some point, and I've tried to get as taxonomic as possible in my sets :).

I too keep a "Life-List", but I've only kept a list of the mammals up to now. As of right now it's just a list of the species and sub-species (listed taxonomically of course). I plan on starting to add personal photos of each species and sub-species as well.

those are all very good photos Javan Rhino. Well done on all of them!

I will shortly have a list of all animals kept in UK collections for anyone who wants to have a copy P/M me and I will send you a copy via E-Mail.
The list does not include aquariums at present but all other collections are included.
It is just the name of the species not the location as to where you can find them.
By the way Javan Rhino great collection of photographs are you still shooting in RAW.

Yup, not been back to JPEG since I switched. I still miss it at times but I resist temptation :D - not all of my pictures on the Flickr page are RAW though, since there are quite a few pics from visits previous to the switch.

I have now got what is close to a complete list of all species kept within the UK collections there are 2014 species so if anyone would like to list please p/m me with your e-mail address and I will send you the complete list
