That's what I stated in my pervious post. 4:0 means four males, as 0:4 would mean four females and 0:0:4 would mean four individuals of unknown gender

King Colobus born at Paignton on Friday 18th of February.
Late Feb Visit
Recent visit to Paignton – sorry if some of this has been noted on ZC already;
* The Crane enclave next to the owls and opposite the Echidna/Red Panda’s has been netted over and spruced up. A pair of Oriental Storks and some pheasants now reside there and look great.
* Some of the parrot aviaries are now pheasant runs (White-eared and another species I didn’t note) and a pair of yellow backed chattering lories have taken up residence next to the Brown Lories.
* The Hawk Owls have had their aviary expanded (opened up the old Mauritius Kestrel area) and they’re now even more active.
* The Crowned Crane enclosure between the winter Ostrich house and the Maned Wolves has been cleared and opened up. There are two Black Crowned Cranes in the house/aviary above Rodent City.
* There are two Variegated Spider Monkey’s in the quarantine area – not sure of sex.
* According to keepers; 1) the only red ruffed lemur in Lemur Wood will move on before the arrival of a new breeding pair from overseas. There is a possibility a new species will come in for the summer – presumably from the UK to avoid quarantine? 2) The Black Tailed Marmosets have a youngster but will not go ‘free-range’ again as they’re too humanised/friendly. A new aviary will be built elsewhere in the Zoo and a new species to go ‘free-range’ above the Rhino’s/Orang’s coming in.
* Duchess the Ele was receiving eye treatment from specialists but she looked fine other than that.
* The two Takin were inside their house all day.
* The Grey and Lar Gibbon pairing are STILL in the tiny enclosure at the end of Orang Islands and I really feel pressure should be mounted upon the curator for his indecision here!
* New signage, viewing platforms and theming have been added to the Wetland area between the Pelicans and Swamp Monkey’s which extends all the way to the tigers.
* Some clearing of scrub/foliage has taken place between the Tigers and Cassowary’s – so unsure of whether new exhibits are on the cards here?
* The walk-in Kangaroo enclosure was open for entry but on many visits over two days it seemed absent of animals?
* Living Coasts – Eight British Oystercatchers have arrived from a private collector and are now on the Estuary exhibit.

The zoo has lauched "Ape Days" very similar to what Chester did for zoochat members in February except that your on a one to one basis with the staff and they cost 8X as much at 200 pounds!

So - not very similar at all. It's 'just' £50 less than Keeper for a Day. I'm very disappointed
Female Red Panda, Macy (Born Summer 2010) has gone or is going shortly to Peaugres Safari in France. As mentioend earlier in the thread her brother is now at Banham

I thought they knew this already. They must have just had a very good idea, guess this is the confirmation.

This information is incorrect Aryo is to move to Holland,Surya has moved to Flamingoland to join a male Bawa from the Wildlife Hertiage both moved last year.Banda is to go to Jerusalem Zoo.

If so, that seems odd as they are wanting to set up a breeding programme.
Jordan, i'm curious as to where you know this from, as nowhere can I find it mentioned. It's not on Paignton's Website. It's not on the The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo Website. When using search engines no articles come up with the moves you have said are taking place.

Jordon is right on this occasion. It was confirmed in the link below sometime ago that Paignton were going to swap Banda with a tigeress at JBZ. JBZ have kept a pair since 2007/2006 and they have bred on three occasions but unfortunatly Chana (the tigeress coming to Paignton) has failed to rear any of them. There only surviving cub is a male (Sylvester) who was handreared and now lives in France.
Chana was born in November 2004 at Ramat Gan Safari, Israel. Her current mate (and the male that Banda is to join) is Avigdor who was born in 2005 at Wuppertal (Banda's sister lives with his brother, Amir at Howletts). The enclosure at JBZ was newly built in 2006
If all goes to plan the the transfer should take place in the early Summer

Banda is being relocated now due to the fact that she has had two successful litters with Tenang which have resulted in 2:2 surviving cubs. She is already overepresented due to her 7 siblings and because Tenang is geneticly the most important individual in Europe (due to him being bred in Australia and having no relatives over here other an his cubs) it's important that his genes are "shared out"
If Paignton held onto Banda and produced a third litter from them next year and soon after that something happend to Tenang (eg: Death, unable to breed for medical reasons) then although any cubs he had produced would go through the roof in terms of genetical value they wouldn't solve the issue of inbreeding due to them being related via Banda to one of the most well represented bloodlines in Europe (The late Morris at Berlin Tierpark) (Banda is a grandaughter to Morris)
It's complicated but what I'm trying to say is that there is no point breeding Banda and Tenang together again because there decendants would have little chance of getting unrelated mates because of the Berlin line that Banda carries.
JBZ haven't had much luck with the Sumatran Tigers so far and although there male is distantly related to Banda I can see why she's been chosen to go over there despite the fact that Paignton are getting the raw end of the deal by taking the unreliable Chana
