Bristol Zoo (Closed) IZES Event

Yep I will be attending the event along with a few others,but I will let them out themselves if they feel the need to!
 
Will be great to put some names to faces, as ive only attended one of these events before being quite a new member.
 
Now that I'm living in the UK I have the chance for the first time in my life to attend one of these social events, but university unfortunately doesn't allow it as all my projects are due either in March or early April. So all I can say is enjoy yourself guys!
 
I'll be there. Always a great meet-up, a chance to pick up some guidebooks at reasonable prices and the venue usually passes on some goodwill.
 
I am looking forward to the event . A visit to Bristol is one of the few decent-sized Zoos that I can comfortably do in a day from here and it is the Zoo I first visited .

Likewise, I have academic work to complete for a Monday deadline. Will be able to attend providing I get most of it completed in the week. Fingers crossed...

Mysterious other #2 ...

Should be fun. The event will also be used to launch a book celebrating the zoo's 175th anniversary. It's on my birthday too: does that entitle me to free guidebooks?
 
A bit too far for me to make this year, but the book sounds interesting :) (that and the possibility of getting some more Chester guides). Does anybody know what price the book will be, and what price guides normally go for?

It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. An old and obscure guide is going to go for more than a recent one from the Weston-Super-Mare Aquarium, for example. That said, the prices that people ask at the Anglo- and Euro-Nerds meetings are generally very low, in comparison to the prices that some things go for on Ebay. In fact, most (all?) zoo nerds are very nice people, and very generous too, and are more likely to give stuff away than charge for it - or to charge only cost price. Swaps are a far preferable option for all, I think - and most are happy to give something in the knowledge that even if they don't get something now, they will do in the future.

It's quite interesting seeing what people go for - generally, magazines are not so valued, annual reports fairly valued, and guides very valued.

It's always a very convivial get together; I'm looking forward to it very much!

Id have to look through the few I had, but it would mostly be Chester guides from between 1970's and now (90's being favoured). Also, members/adopters magazines (Zoo Life and 'Z magazine').

The original plan was for the book to retail somewhere below (but not far below) the £20 mark. It will certainly be an irresistible addition to my bookshelves.

Ace, thanks. Will see what funds I have nearer the time and see if I can coax somebody into picking a copy up for me :D

Yeah, I can often be found on that border between brave and stupid/silly.

Besides, if I can carry myself around I'm sure I can manage an arm, now where can I find three other volunteers/idiots.........
