Chester Zoo African wild dogs

The names picked for four of the males are Azizi, Badrani, Diallo and Gamba.

3 of the 4 I chose were picked. The only difference is I prefered Elewa to Diallo - however thinking back Elewa somehow sounds more feminine, no idea why.
 
I asked what the other male and the 2 females are called via Fuzzbook (sic) and they are:

Male = Ochi
Females = Kumi & Subira

I'm assuming they are all swahili names?

I'm always after an excuse to slip the names of Chester animals into the novel I'm attempting to write. I don't have any confirmed yet, but I want to get Budi in there somewhere. These names will really help me since I have a Swahili* speaking tribe appear at some point in the middle.

*The tribe aren't actually Swahili, it is a fantasy and their names are from Swahili, as are some of the phrases etc they use. Useless info I know, and not sure why I felt compelled to share that :p
 
I was thinking of it but just can't get the day off work tomorrow - may pop in later on friday though after work if it's nice and the light is good and it's members day on saturday so I'll be there all day for that!
 
I am going tomorrow but i did'nt know it was opening day.
So it should be very good,i did see them from a distance 2 weeks ago.
 
The opening event tomorrow is private, invitation-only. The exhibit opens "properly" to the public on Thursday.
 
Just thought i would give my thoughts on the new enclosure. I really liked it, it is definetly something different and you can actually suspend believe for a few moments and imagine that you could be in Africa viewing them (Especially with how hot it was on Saturday!).

Shame the zoo isnt planning a lazy summer evening this year as would be great I think to see the enclosure at dusk. The addition of the walkthrough research station is interesting and provides good views of the dogs through glass windows hopefully they can hold up to the onslaught of children with sticky hand prints.
