If you look at the page before this, I already posted that video

The Bonobo troop at the Cincinnati Zoo is quite large and so is the behind the scenes area. They are likely only outside for a limited amount of time each day, and you have likely just missed them.

i also forgot to say that i saw one of the bonobo babies outside.

and about the cougars being in the lynx exhibit, they were there because the Zoo Babies thing on the website says the cougars' location was across from the Passenger Pigeon Memorial. and i remember seeing one.

@dpatter28- That's ridiculous. Bats are wondrous creatures

@cinzoo man- I would rather they not, but I'm open minded to the idea.... I think it's great that they are exhibiting the bats in such an enclosure with both forest and cave habitats. Bats of course do not live their entire lives in caves, and I think think that visitors can really get something out of seeing the bats like that. Not to mention that the enclosure is larger than just about any other Common Vampire Bat exhibit out there. However, if they split the enclosure in half we could see some of the species that were left out of Night Hunters, or, of course, we could end up seeing more Pottos I could see the forested half being inhabited by douroucoulis, armadillos, sloths, or genets. It's not big enough for much else.

That's what I figured. The cougar cubs were too good of drawcards to not be exhibited somewhere during Zoo Babies.

In terms of news, the zoo's Malayan Tiger brothers recently left for the Knoxville Zoo. That is why the other white tiger is being exhibited in their exhibit.

The Barred Owl is back in its original home (Steller's Sea Eagle exhibit by the Polar Bears)

The Nocturnal House is under construction, i asked and someone said it might just be offices, disappointed to here that.

And about the Vampire Bat exhibit, they just added some trees, same thing goes for the cougar exhibit.

In terms of news, the zoo's Malayan Tiger brothers recently left for the Knoxville Zoo. That is why the other white tiger is being exhibited in their exhibit.

sooooo do you think they will come back or will we get others, because the Malay tigers are part of the Cat Canyon plan? Now i think i know why they only put Tiger on the map. How did you find that this out?

That's one of the main complaints I've heard. The exhibit is just so large and dark that it's hard to see such small creatures. I mean the zoo's exhibit for their Common Vampire Bats is the largest one I've ever seen for the species. I know that the zoo is interested in enlarging the size of their group, so hopefully the combination of a larger group and whatever renovation they doing now will cause the bats to be visable more often.

That's interesting as well. All kinds of closures and renovations going around the zoo now days. Perhaps this means that something has moved or is moving into the old Emu yard ?

Yeah, you nailed most of my complaints about Night Hunters on the head. Well, that and that for some unimaginable reason the zoo still allows strollers in there even though no one can see where they are going.

The strollers drive me up the wall!!! I can't tell you how many times I've been banged and bruised by them!

I plan on going to the zoo tomorrow. I wish I knew when they let the aardvark in the children's zoo out to eat. I saw her a few times last summer and I would love to say "hello" to her again.

-I don't remember seeing the Barred Owls in that enclosure. In the past I remember it holding young Steller's Sea Eages, a Bald Eagle, Red-crowned Cranes, and perhaps Siberian White Cranes. I'm not questioning you, but I just don't remember seeing them

-That's rather disappointing to hear that about Nocturnal House. A waste of space in a zoo that has so little space to spare.

-Though they may have just added trees, the trees will give them more places to hang and roost. Thus, they may start to be more active. Not to mention that the trees will make the enclosure more visually appealing. I'm glad to hear that they have added trees to the Cougar enclosure. It was looking really bare. It looked more suited to Snow Leopards really.

-Perhaps they were just working with some of the animals or preparing for something.

I do not know if they will be getting the brothers back after the completion of Cat Canyon, or if they will be getting a new breeding pair. I learned of this by overhearing someone talking with a keeper, through Flickr, and through an email with the zoo just to make sure.

It truly makes no sense whatsoever. All they have to do is mark off a place near the entrance/exit where people can drop them off and take their kids inside. In a building like that strollers cause nothing but congestion, arguments, knocks and bruises, and a just about displeasing time.

Have a nice visit I hope to visit the zoo sometime this week as well. I don't know the schedule for the Children's Zoo animals. I wish that they would post one on there website. Hopefully you'll get to see her!

Two main things

They added a big log in the middle of the Cougar exhibit and a waterfall and they are now installing grass mats.

I talked to the exhibit manager, and she confirmed that the Nocturnal House will be offices and she said that they are expanding the back wall of the indoor Komodo Dragon exhibit.

Got a new sign for the Laughing Kookaburras, now it just says Kookaburra, hate when zoo signs arent specific. like the Takin, its a Sichuan Takin and many others

And People are still wondering where Zuri is

-I'm disappointed to hear that the future of the Nocturnal House is that of offices. I was really hoping for some new exhibit to move in. At least Hudo will be receiving an enlarged indoor enclosure. Does this perhaps mean that they are interested in obtaining a female?

-That irritates me as well. I don't know why they aren't more specific with their signs. I know most people won't care that there are four subspecies of takins or if there are four species of Kookaburra. I can understand (sort-of) why zoos might not label every specific subspecies, but I can't understand why they can't even label what specific species it is and just label it as, for example, Kookaburra. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I hope so, when was the last time we had any, i heard that the female attacked the male and that they had successfully breed 32 babies but forget the date?

Funny thing, i was going to post that we had a new species, Blue-winged Kookaburras, because i didnt know that the Laughing kookaburras had a little blue on their wings, rather than the Blue-winged ones having blue almost covering their whole wing.

its just the left side that doesnt look appealing, minus the waterfall, but the right side of it looks natural, i was wondering why they were tearing down trees early this morning.

Im also getting a little impatient with the otter exhibit. I was walking towards the exhibit and i saw a little girl holding an otter stuffed animal, so i figured that was her favorite animal, when the family saw that they were off exhibit she started balling, i know they are working on other things right now but i felt really bad for the girl, cant they just re-install the glass and fill the pool back up so people like her can enjoy seeing them.

Why??????? We should keep the oldest zoo building in America for as long as we can, the only complaint i have is the heat and some of the small exhibits, such as the Green Tree Python's.
