Get there very early or you will be parked in another county!

Do you have favorites in particular - such as Cats, or Reptiles or Birds?
Otherwise I'd suggest following a route around the zoo and then breaking off for specifics?
So - the Ellies tend to get a hose down in the afternoons if it's a warm one - that usually prompts them to jump in the pool for a frolic - always fun to watch.
If it's a dog feeding day - which it is by my reckoning (unless they change the schedule) then watching that is fun too - from about 2.30pm
There are numerous births and may well be more by the time you arrive so keep your ears open for excited posts here. But Currently there are Young Marmosets, Bush Dogs, Lion Tailed Macaques, Spider Monkeys, Mandrills, oodles of baby birds and reptiles.
Realm of the Red Ape is worth visiting eaither very early or very late in the day on a Bank Hol - it is manic otherwise normally. Giant Otters are great when there is a talk/feed otherwise check the website for the talk schedule too as the animals respond to the presence of the green keepers outfits often!

If I'm around I may catch you in there - weather & family dependant

was wondering when we would see them I remember the mum was he-owge!!! waddling around trying to keep up with the rest
 
We didn't see any pups, but we saw 11 Bush Dogs circling the little pool they have. We have never seen so many of them together before.

Adrian, the African Painted Dogs should be fed on the Saturday. Between 14:30 and 15:30. If the schedule stays the same of being fed every other day. It is good to see. Not very gory either.

Oops, I see KC already mentioned the feeding.

I saw a couple of pups at the mouth of the den today; fortunately it was the den near the holly bush so I could shoot some photos. The keeper said there are 5 pups and they are about 5 weeks old. The mother's name is Biggles.
I wonder what Algy or Ginger would think of that :)

Some of my notes from yesterday:
- Magadi and Manyara are now in the on-show 'Tsavo' exhibit.
- The Rock Hyrax exhibit is coming on well. Most of the rocky backdrop is in place and glass windows have been put in.
- For my second consecutive visit, only one Grevy's Zebra was visible.

So am I right in presuming that, Kitani and Sammy are now off-show?

The single male Grevy's Zebra stallion has been that way for nearly 2-3 weeks.

I'm not entitrely sure on the first one, as I'm not the best on Rhino identification, but I'm pretty sure that's the situation.

As the for the second point, my previous visit was three weeks ago (unfortunately for myself).

In other news, what was the Warty Pig side of the cattle house now has signs saying Common Warthogs. The Cattle House is closed, and after taking a peak through the window it would appear that at least one of the new residents has already arrived.

You are certainly correct on the Warthog front, a new male arrived from London earlier this week.

As for the Zebra, changes are happening there, so watch this space!

I'm guessing that the Warthogs are moving to the Cattle house and when the Aardvark(s)arrive they will go in the Mongoose/Wart Hog enclosure?

Wrong wrong and wrong again,I do know the plans for the Aardvark and its not where you have said,and the Warthogs that are in with the Banded Mongoose are staying where they are!!!!!

It's already been noted above that this is a new warthog that has arrived from London, not the existing animals moving.

You beat me to it! Damn!

Me knows too, someone who shall remain nameless told me whilst we were watching the African Hunting Dogs.

As for the rhino's, whilst viewing them, I asked the presenter if she knew where Zuri was. She told me the last she knew she was in Tsavo 2. However, as they play musical rhino's you never really know from one week to the next.

Maybe we could encourage the zoo to paint the Rhino's horns a different colour then they would be easily identifiable - that way we'd really be taken seriously as hard core Rhino researchers :D
