Injured Mourning Dove

My cat injured a mourning dove in my backyard this morning. It can kind of half fly, and has a very clumsy walk. I have set up a box for it with bird seed and water. I have no experience with any kind of bird. I really need help is someone on here knows what to do with an injured dove. I have attached some photos of the bird.

I cant offer any advice, sorry, but is she eating still? At least you are giving her the chance to gain strengh and hopefully recover, hope she pulls thru. Very pretty bird.
 
I have given it safflower seed, which the wild ones seem to like, as well as water. I haven't seen it eat, but it looks under weight, so I hope can get it to eat.
 
Get it checked out at a vet; depending on the vet’s verdict, take it to a wildlife rescue centre where they have experience with doves (I know it’s nice to look after animals but it would be in the dove’s best interest to go to someone who has experience.) If you don’t have a wildlife rescue centre near by, put it in a cage, feed and water it, keep it warm (but not hot) and dry but otherwise leave it in peace. It may just need few days to recover before you release it. Also search the internet for info.
 
I am looking into giving it to somebody with more experience with this animal. But, most places aren't open on a Sunday, so I may have to wait until tommorrow.

Many areas have wild animal rescue operations with volunteers trained for exactly what you are facing here.

I just did a quick google for "wild animal rescue kansas city" and this place popped out: Operation Wildlife

They have a phone number to call for help with injured wildlife.

Thanks all. I've called Operation Wildlife, and it looks like they'll take my dove! Thanks for that DavidBrown :)
 
I would love to, but I have given it to Operation Wildlife that DavidBrown suggested. I have a feeling that she'll be okay though.

Hope the bird is O.K., let us know, perhaps if he was caught by your cat, as has been mentioned on this site previously,a bell on your cat's collar would be a good idea, prevention is always better than cure,

Not a bad idea. I might look into this. I think the dove already had some problems, as it was very underweight. It is not a good sign for the dove is my retarded cat can catch it.

And if you get a collar for your cat makes sure it's one that snaps open if the cats climbs trees..............
