I'll just have to remind myself that it's a completely different story taking some ideas from the book, not actually a movie based on the book. Hope Mee got good money up front - don't see how they're going to benefit more if it's not set or filmed at the zoo, or even in the same country!
but I really do hate when they put clothes on monkeys.I'd go a stage further than that- I really don't like to see old bedding & clothing materials given to Apes in Zoos for enrichment. They obviously enjoy it and usually cover themselves up but I feel this takes away their dignity. Natural materials e.g. vegetation, would serve the purpose better to my mind.

While Scarlett Johansson is playing the obligatory love interest, the wife Katherine actually is in there as well apparently (only at the start, one would assume), played by Stephanie Szostak. Ben Mee's (Matt Damon's) brother Duncan is played by Thomas Haden Church.

If its located in America I suppose they had to change it from 'Dartmoor'. But Tradmoor or Dratmoor don't sound right either, do they?
The film is based vaguely on the book. Although Ben Mee has said that they recreated the zoo perfectly.
As for money up front, no they didn't, that's not how it works. When the book came out, a company bought the film rights for about $25,000. Only later did, Crowe get on board.
I think I recall hearing that the film company has paid a small amount so far, with more to come once the film is out and making a profit. Last year when the zoo was having trouble, the money from the film company helped to clear that trouble.

Someone has posted a home video of their visit to the set on Youtube. Kind of boring, but it shows what the tiger exhibit that they built looks like.

Ehhhh... I'm not finished with the book just yet, but it doesn't seem like it follows the storyline. I know they can't follow it exactly, but still. I'm assuming Katherine won't be in there considering that Damon was hitting on a girl during the trailer??? And it looks more like the zoo just happened to be on the "perfect" property they wanted, and he only took it because his daughter loved it, not that they set out to buy the zoo and worked to bring it back like in the book. Just my opinion. Although it is only a trailer. I'd probably still go see the movie, nonetheless.

What I learned from this trailer is that zoos around the world can solve their budget problems by firing all of their keepers, vets, curators, directors, etc. and just hiring people off the street with a lot of heart to run the zoo for much more reasonable salaries. I like Cameron Crowe, but this trailer made me cringe.

If you listen carefully, he actually says "The sellers say you don't need any special knowledge to run a zoo." Of course maybe that is just as bad, I don't know. But the storyline is so far off from the book that I don't know how they can still say on the screen "Based On A True Story." Still looks like a nice movie, but it appears to be nothing like the real story for those of us who have read the book.

I don't mean to be cynical, especially since this is only a trailer and not the movie. I have not read the book and am not familiar with the real life story. I like many of Cameron Crowe's movies, but what gives me pause about this is that they seem to be saying that no expertise is needed to properly keep lions, grizzly bears, etc. This seems to me to be a very bad message as there are already enough people out there getting themselves killed with improper keeping of venomous snakes, pythons, wolf-hybrids, etc. To portray a zoo as a petting farm that anyone can manage (which is the impression I got from the trailer) seems like a very bad idea. Hopefully this is not what the actual movie will portray.
