Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden Tour, Review and Opinions of the Cincinnati Zoo

I have also noticed that the gorillas in Givskud Zoo, Denmark, actually tend to use the open areas of their enclosure even though they have some very open areas. Maybe the tall grass and surrounding trees have an effect on the gorillas in this shot. Mind you, they also have some more covered areas,

I had a student study the gorillas' behavior after we opened Congo Gorilla Forest (Bronx Zoo). It appeared that weather, cloud cover and the light could have an effect... as though a very overcast day=canopy cover.

Then why was Emi unsuccessful 5 times when they used it on her, and on Nikki the Indian rhino? No this is the leopards first time

Just because an artificial insemination attempt was unsuccessful doesn't make it dangerous.

I am not changing my mind about the aye-ayes, and I'm not coming up with these facts.

What you stated was false. What is true is that the Cincinnati Zoo was the first US zoo to exhibit Aye-Aye.

I have also found many false facts in your in depth tour of the zoo. Its important that you find the right facts, especially if you are going to fight about them. And if you think I'm wrong, look it up!

*Lemur Lookout (near the old great ape house/now the 4D theater) was built in 1962 as baboon island and later renovated into Ibex Island. I have maps from the 40s and 50s of the zoo and this exhibit is not there. It was not built in 1875.

*Monkey Island (next to the Reptile House) was built in 1930 and renovated in 1962.

*There are plenty of bigger polar bear exhibits in the world and the us. And yes they are well documented on zoochat.

*As for the elephant information. Ganesh was born in 1998. Sabu and another female were sent to Louisville because the zoo could not hold a mature bull. Ganesh was later sent to the Columbus Zoo in 2003? (upon maturity - he began musth much to early for a young male) and died in 2005 at 7 years old.

*Discovery Forest as not built in the 1980s.

After some further review - parts of your original post look like exact copies from the zoo's Wikipedia page. In fact after reading the page's discussion board there is a member that edits the page and leaves threatening comments much in the same manner as yourself. I advise that you try not to do the same thing here again. It will only cause more you problems. And maybe at least take the advice that the other people on Wikipedia give you too? Especially since you take little advice from anyone on zoochat. It is all very helpful and encouraging stuff. Its nice of them to give you a free lesson in how to write.

I also have a few questions?

1. What was Tommy the cheetah's speed and what was the previous captive cheetah speed record?

2. What happened to the zoo's male okapi?

3. What record did the zoo's Indian Rhino beat?

4. Where in North Carolina was Harapan the Sumatran Rhino sent to?

Guess who did the Wiki page before they blocked me, I did and the Wikia page to and I referenced them. I didn't say Lemur lookout was built in 1875, and Monkey Island was renovated in 1985. And what do you mean that I said the Cin zoo polar bear exhibit was the largest?

Umm, yes you did state that Lemur Lookout was built in 1875.

Lemur Lookout: This open-aired exhibit was built in 1875 as Baboon Island and renovated in 1962 as Ibex Island. It allows guests to look down to view the zoo's 3 Ring-tailed lemurs on a 30 foot tall rock with many lush and shady areas surrounded by a small stream. The Cincinnati zoo is the Lemur capitol in North America with 3 species, Ring-tailed, Black-and-white ruffed, and Eastern Lesser Grey Bamboo lemurs: says the Director of the zoo, Thayne Maynard.

Question about the manatee exhibits at Cincy and Columbus Zoos: these exhibits were built at approximately the same time as I recall...were they built in part to house manatees that were getting booted from the Ohio Seaworld that closed down?

Not sure at all

There is another mistake, Tommy T. is not that fastest cheetah in captivity. Sarah, another cheetah at the zoo is the world land-speed record holder.

I'm not sure about the 1875 part but it was not built in 1962 as Baboon Island. It was renovated and renamed Ibex Island after Baboon Island in June 1962. I do see how you got that though because the earliest zoo map that has that island included is the 1993 one. I have the 1878, 1900, 1952, and the 1993 maps(not including the modern one's). Also do you know when Lemur Lookout opened? It had to be after 1993.

Not sure if this is a true story but here.

You have an interesting way of looking at history. I'm not sure if you have the right information. From what I gleamed from your other recent postings, you finally received the David Ehrlinger Cincinnati Zoo history book. If you read page 85 carefully, you will find that the enclosure in question was built in 1962 for baboons. I'm sure you realize that there were other Cincinnati zoo maps prior to 1993 that will have the baboon island on it.

As for the later renovations of the exhibit. I do know that it existed as baboon island as late as 1988. And that it held ibex as early as 1993. So the renovation occurred between 1988 and 1993. I do not have any information regarding when it was renovated for the lemurs (probably late 1990s?).
