Highlights of the year2011 and plans for 2012

I am the same make the most of the day there's always tomorrow for the next one

Not necessarily - I've done a lot this year and I wouldn't have done half as much without joining visits because I was in the area. For example:

Bristol and Slimbridge
Blackpool and SeaLife
Crocodiles of the World, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Cotswold Falconry
Lotherton Hall, Harewood House and Tropical World
RSCC and Wingham

All of these bar the last one were day trips - I probably wouldn't have gone so far just for Slimbridge, and Bristol isn't huge. So, if you see everything there is to see and there's still time in the day, why not add something else :p

I hope you didn't pay full prices!! :D

I'm very much an 'in at opening, out when the kick me out at night' kinda visitor. :)

In fairness - when zg talks about 8 in a day we're not talking Leipzigs or Twycrosses or even Newquays - 6 small local bird parks (mostly no bigger than a good-sized back garden!), a nondescript SeaLife Centre and the curious Luisenpark Mannheim. Only the latter did I feel like we had to rush a bit. Plus this was a very full day - 10 hours (almost exactly) separate my first photo of the day at Reilingen and my last at Viernheim. :)

And to be honest, given the number of tiny collections in that part of Germany, it was too good a challenge to pass up! At least one fellow zoo enthusiast has done 11 collections in a day by just doing the little bird parks!

At Palmitos Park, on Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), there's a mixed enclosure for both Northern and Southern talapoin. I added the Southerns to zootierliste but I'm not sure why there's no trace of their listing at all.

Thanks for that - Valencia's is not quite unique then! I've dropped Animal a PM about the talapoins on Zootierliste - it looks as though at the moment it's being assumed all the talapoins labelled or added as M. talapoin are actually missidentified M. ogouensis, which is not the case!

I was not having ago at anyone just saying I love to spend all day at one collection

Oh, I know - just putting zg's '8 zoos' in context! :D
