it certainly has gone - last time I saw it, it was quite badly damaged thanks to some serious attention from Iblis (the male) and his 'laydeeze' Kiburi & Kumari. The top part of the platform was broken and I think for safety's sake it needed sorting before they hurt themselves.

news from visits this week...

new snowflake moray eel in aquarium, at least 3 in the tank.

Coro and Bonita (jaguars) have moved to the Savannah side and Pele is in the waterfall side, asked a keeper about Sophia and she is in rainforest but may be rotated with Pele

Tiger cubs are becoming a handful for mum and finding their feet.

it's be like trying to force your grandparents to live together after years of independance - fur would fly!! - but I'd be happy to be proved wrong :O)

Also the Tiger cubs are surely finding their 'Paws' *grins*

Is there no possibility Pele and Sophia could live together?

I guess they won't know unless they try an introduction between them.

I hope they do try and pair them up. A Melanistic Jaguar(or Leopard) paired with a normal/spotted one always makes a good display, because of their contrasting colours.

haha yes *paws* they kept running off and Kirana had to keep retrieving them.
Also saw a nice little moment between Kirana and Fabi they had a little head rub very sweet....

I think we should get back to the matter at hand which is zoo news, I personally won't hold it against zoogiraffe.
Thank you for that Jordan-jaguar97,because my comment wasn't mean't to be personnal but I think you already knew that, but as you said back to the zoo news.

Has anybody seen anything of the Giant Otters since they went back into their enclosure after the zoo did some work on the enclosure.

Updates from 10/12/2011

I'll start this update with the bad news - the Tropical Realm's Taveta golden weaver (Ploceus castaneiceps) has recently died in the last few weeks, having reached an exceptional age of 23 years old (at least).

On the positive side, a pair of White-winged wood ducks (Asarcornis scutulata) have joined the white-collared kingfishers in their enclosure (half of the former Philippine crocodile exhibit).

The Ark Gift shop has closed whilst development work is going on around the entrance area. There is a small temporary gift-shop set up in a cabin next to guest services.

Saw Pele (Black jaguar) a few times, but he was only hanging around at the back of the enclosure whenever I saw him (mostly fleeting glimpses from the RoRA ramp). He kept going out then going back in again.

EDIT: Also, the King ratsnake has gone from Realm of the Red Ape and in its place are Thai water dragon?
