The only zoo in Australia to see.....

Name the specie/s and zoo/s.

The first two that come to mind are:

Hyacinth macaw, Palm cockatoo - Adelaide Zoo

Persian onager and Indian rhino - Western plains
Giant panda - Adelaide
Leopard seal - Taronga
Polar bear - sea world

Love the idea of this thread, maybe we could have one for the UK.

I know this is an Australian species, so if someone really wanted to see it they could see it in the Australian wild, but a favourite of mine -
Australian pratincole - Adelaide.

Also to see at Adelaide:
Chilean and greater flamingo.

Ones I know off the top of my head...

Maned wolf at Altina Wildlife Park
Greater rhea at Western Plains
Chilean and greater flamingo at Adelaide
Giant panda at Adelaide
Asian greater one-horned rhino at Western Plains
Leopard seal at Taronga

Don't want to be picky, but greater rhea can be found in some smaller wildlife parks and in some private hands, in limited numbers.

Are there any African Grey Parrots on display in Australia? I understand that there is a pair of African Greys at Werribee Zoo that are kept off display - but if you were a child/teacher and did a school trip, you would pass the parrots on the way to the classrooms.

Don't mean to be picky but Featherdale Wildlife Park display Australian Pratincole.
I believe they are the only place that display Pacific Gull, Antarctic Skua and Lesser Sooty Owl.

I'd be surprised if Darling Downs and Adelaide were the only two zoos with African greys. I know they're not the commonest parrot in Australia (although commoner there than in NZ) but they're not that difficult to get and they make an interesting display.

(EDIT: just looking on ISIS and it lists Adelaide with 1.1, Werribee with 0.2, and PRIAM [not open to the public granted] with 13.13; and of course those are just the zoos that register inventories with ISIS)

Melbourne used to have a couple in the treetop primate area. Maybe they are the two now at Werribee?

A recent extensive tour has revealed only two in NZ zoos - both in Auckland Zoo.

several of the smaller collections have them in NZ. The Parrot Place (now not open to the public apparently) had quite a lot of both regular and Timneh greys when I was there last year.
