Their is going to be a bit of a shake up within in the animal management side within the zoo with the appointment of a new Assistant Curator of Higher Vertebrate,i do know who this is but at the moment its not been annouced so will keep it quite for the time been, the role is going to be very much hands on within the collection, for the time been NO new species will be coming in to the collection apart from what is public knowledge. His main concerns for the time been will be sorting out any species that are single animals or none breeding groups, sorting out the Black Rhinos is high on the list.

Not allowed to say but watch this space because changes will start to happed but slowly,if we hear something is coming into the zoo when he starts it will given time.

.. glad to hear it. They don't need three bulls and Quinto in particular is wasted at Chester. Mayani should be pregnant as well as Kitani, Rosie needs some work done on her...

I agree. Quinto is wasted with Rosie when obviosuly nothing is going to happen in the current situation.

Quinto would be better of either at Port Lympne or (sorry as I would be to lose him from GB)perhaps being sent to Europe.

Chester Zoo has announced the appointment of Evelyn De Wolf as team leader of the elephants. She previously worked at Bellewaerde Park in Belgium.

What's happened to the head elephant keeper then? (can't remember his name...Mick....? )

No Micks still working at the zoo with the Elephants he`s just stood down as team leader,to be just a keeper.

Andrew Owens has been appointed Curator of Birds for those of you who don`t know where hes worked before he was in charge of the Aviarys at Waddesdon Manor and before that he worked at Jersey,so yet again Chester have ended up with an experienced ex-Jersey member of staff.

Do you know what happened to the previous Bird Curator - left, stepped sideways, promoted?

Mike Jordan was curator of higher vertebrates (birds and mammals) , don't know what he does now, but I think he's still at Chester.

Of the previous ones Mark Pilgrim is now chief curator, Roger Wilkinson is curator of conservation and research.

I thought Kevin Buley had moved up from Lower Vert Curator to a higher role. I know Chester is big but just how many curators does Chester have?
