Liger

lets hope they dont match a liger with a tigon !!!!:p

Could you imagine what the meat bill would be like?

I saw two ligers in the UK last year and they were HUGE. They were also the goofiest animals that I have met in a long while - very sweet natured, but their size alone was frightening. They are now in Japan.

MARK - they were both young adults. I am the world's worst estimator of weights but, compared to some lions that I once had to weigh to airfreight, I would guess that the ligers would be in excess of 400 kg each.

One American website states it feeds its Ligers 23 kgs of meat a day, glad I not paying their feed bills

Okay; so they are giant cats - but to me the truly attractive cats (large and small) are those which are sleek, svelte and muscular! (Something tigons and ligers are not.)

If I wanna see flab I'll look in the mirror! :o

Where did you see the ligers in the UK? Was not aware of any over here.

Aren't these guys usually sterile..?

Ligers are usually sterile, occasionally female tigons are fertile. Not usually enough around to confirm this theory, but similar situation comes up with other closely related species. I believe that hinnys (Male donkey/female horse) are also occasionally fertile. Why?????
