Thanks everyone - I'm currently travelling in Colombia and having a great time with my family.

I hope to get to visit a few zoos while I'm here, but alas, that is not the primary purpose of the trip.

Colombia? As in South America? Why go to a zoo when you can visit the Amazon?! Too costly?

Unfortunately, we have to stay in Cali for a few weeks so don't really have an opportunity to travel that widely. I'm not sure two young kids would appreciate the Amazon so much anyway.

We will be spending some time in Bogota and hopefully also Medellin, so I hope to get a few zoo visits while here.

I would love to be visiting some of the national parks here too (at least, the ones which are now safe to visit), but again, we aren't really in a position to do that type of travel right now.

I was trying to put emphasis on South America, because, well, you know, it's South America! You've got plenty of natural wildlife and exotic habitats down there! So why visit a zoo?

But, like you said, not going to happen. Ah, well.
