Woburns lions and sealions

Hi guys,
I visited Woburn yesterday and had a fabulous day. Well kept animals, fantastic enclosures and friendly happy staff.
I did read a year or so ago that they were going do do away with the awful sealion pool and relocate them????
I find that pool a throw back to the bad old days, not a great deal of space and no real stimuli.
Can anyone enlighten me on future plans?
Also there are three huge male lions (castrated) who were constantly "eyeballing" the new young full male. Do castrated males still have territorial aggression and do any of the three feel as though they are pride leader. Will they accept the new male once he is mature or will he have to fight for the takeover like in the wild.
Overall top notch day at a great park.

I believe the new male 'Kasanga' has been integrated with at least one female 'Tyra' she is (Afaik) the dominant female, so introducing them two first would make sense.

The three males 'Bala' 'Ace' and 'Codie' are indeed castrated, I don't know for certain but wouldn't they have to wait until Kasanga is at full size so he could defend himself, he is only two or three so not fully grown as yet. Maybe introducing Kasanga with only one at a time?

I was thinking that yesterday, he looks very small still and those three are huge, one of them especially so.
Are the three boys old? They look it, but it's hard to tell with lions sometimes?
You're right about sensible integration with the dominant female; if you've got her onside you're halfway there :-)

Do the castrated lions at Woburn still have full manes ? The male 'Barbary' lions at Port Lympne lost their manes completely after the 'op' .

'Kasanga' new male arrived in January from Holland, born in 2009/10.

'Bala' one of the castrated males, born 2004 at Woburn (Tambi x Sly)

'Ace' one of the castrated males, born 2004 at Woburn (Tambi x Sly)

'Flint' one of the castrated males, born at Woburn (Either Sly or Shane's offspring)

'Gemma' one of the females, born 1992 at Woburn (Delilah x Legs Diamond)

'Codie' one of the females, born 2005 at Woburn

'Tia' one of the females, born 2007 at Woburn (Tambi x Shane) one of Shane's last offspring

'Brandy' one of the females, born 2007 at Woburn (Tambi x Shane)

'Tambi' one of the females, born 1998 at Woburn (Delilah x Legs Diamond)

'Tyra' lowest ranking female

'Tulayla' one of the females, born 2004 at Woburn (Amber x Shane)

'Dakota' one of the females, born 2005 at Woburn

'Abi' one of the females, born 2005 at Woburn

That's all the info I have, I got the info about Codie and Flint mixed up, sorry about that. And if the females like the male, they will put up a fight with the other males to help and defend the new male.
 
Thanks for the info, bit confused as to whether Tyra is lowest or highest ranked female, your two answers contradict each other??

To Bele, the castrated males have no manes; I believe castrated males lose their manes and vascectomised ones have manes

Sorry about that, Tyra is the highest ranking, and Tulayla is the lowest.
 
Tiah and Brandy are no longer at Woburn, Both went to a collection in Holland during 2011
