Guess the movie

Chlidonias, did you name the files wrongly to throw us off? If so, that was a good move.

2. Ong Bak

.......and a red-tailed hawk calls shrilly high in the air as a tumbleweed rolls slowly across the dusty landscape.

Alright, I'll give it another shot...

1. Commando (Haven't seen this, but Arnie is in it, so I narrowed it down to this one.)
5. The Island (If this is correct, I'm ashamed I didn't recognize it sooner!)

not Commando (it is Schwarzenegger, but eleven years later than Commando....)

Answers so far:
2) Ong Bak (nanoboy)
4) Machete (montagne14)
5) The Island (montagne14)

clue time: number 3 is a French movie

Ok, #1 is Eraser.

I was going to post a French movie called 'District B-13' at some point but some how I don't think that period drama of yours is 'District B-13'.

Eraser is correct.

Just need number 3 now.

nanoboy and montagne14 are equal on two correct answers each.

This game's a bit drawn out when there's only two other people playing!! Another clue? The mystery movie revolves around the Beast of Gevaudan. And that's pretty much giving the answer to whoever looks at this thread next!

Brotherhood of the Wolf. :D

Finally! A round should not take two days! You know, for someone who started a Guess The Movie game, you sure do suck at Guessing The Movies nanoboy.

So nanoboy gets three points for that game, and montagne14 gets two points.

I never said I was good at guessing movies. I honestly thought that more people would have played along and that the thread would have been self-sustaining without any involvement from me!

I'll post some movie pics soon.

I actually do think its a good game, and I would too have thought more people would have come along for the ride. I think over the last two days there may have just been fewer members online who frequent this part of the forum.

Oops! I forgot to post pics. Check again in 5 minutes. We are going overseas for this set!

Yeah, I think people have been posting on "Guess the number thread", thanks to you. :p
Also, I think it's warming up in the northern hemisphere (whereas winter is approaching here) so maybe people are outdoors more visiting zoos instead of reading about them.

I love wuxia, so here are 3 Chinese wuxia movies, 1 western wuxia movie, with the 5th being a biography of sorts.

I can only pick number 3 and I think it's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

I would have joined in the last round but I actually didn't know any of the movies.

1) not sure on this one. It's not just Wu Xia is it?
2) House Of Flying Daggers (excellent movie by the way!)
3) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
4) The Warrior's Way (haven't seen this. Is it any good?)
5) I'm sure I've seen this one but I need to think....

ah, for number 5 I had Fearless in my head, but when I was googling trying to remember the name of the movie I found out its actually Ip Man

Well done folks!

So, we have:

1. ? (not the movie Wu Xia, but a wuxia movie with Jet Li. If you loved Flying Daggers, you will love this one even more. Definitely one of my favourite movies - the colours, the scenery, the Rashomon-like flashbacks, the fight scenes that were almost like ballet, and that one scene on Mirror Lake in the Jiuzhaigou Valley in China. An actress is common to Movie 1,2,3)

2. House of Flying Daggers (Chlidonias)

3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (PAT)

4. The Warrior's Way (Chlidonias) [I think most of this movie was filmed in front of a green screen, but there are some superb fight scenes. I quite enjoyed the mix of martial arts in the wild west. Even my wife enjoyed it!]

5. Ip Man (Chlidonias) [This one is a biography of the guy that trained Bruce Lee, but don't be fooled: it is still a martial arts film through and through.]

So, PAT = 1, Chlidonias = 3.

The first movie is outstanding.
