Simple solution for all rocky or concrete exhibits

Even though it is 100% common sense and I know people have came up with it but I just thought of an idea. Why don't zoos ever just put grass mats over concrete exhibits? Is it that hard?

Do you mean fake grass or the rolls of real lawn? Because those rolls of real lawn take a lot of work. My parents redid their backyard a little while ago and mum thought it would be the easy solution but you need to dig up the entire area and make sure there are layers of different materials (clay and what not) at certain depths. It took way longer than they expected.

It also depends on what species is being shown - for a lot of hooved animals they actually want a hard surface as it helps with keeping their hooves from overgrowing. Plastic matting may also harbour disease causing organisms and would require regular cleaning. Cpncrete or rock can be hosed down easily and is therefore often healthier. It all depends on the size of enclosure as well of course.

I mean for like old bear grottoes and stuff.
